DONOR ACCOUNTANT

Our team focus on to ensure appropriate unrestricted and restricted fund management and we aim to supports the effective provision of budgetary, financial and contract management support.

The Role:
The Donor Accountant works closely with and supports the team and wider Finance team in the Rohingya Programme on day-to-day financial matters concerning donor accounting and financial reporting. Ensures that Financial and Internal Controls and full compliance with Oxfam GB and donor(s) policies and procedures, and that donor contractual obligation, in terms of accounting policies and regulations, are met

What we are looking for:
As a donor & reporting accountant, you will have a recognised accountancy qualification with accountancy experience. You will be able to build effective working relationships with programme, finance and funding teams as well as organise work effectively to meet deadlines.

Essential

  • Recognized professional qualification in accounting and finance.
  • Ability to manage budgets.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Bangladeshi
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounts and donor reporting.
  • Proven experience in dealing with large budgets.
  • Strong computer literacy: strong proven experience with computerized accounting packages, preferably PeopleSoft 8. Strong proven experience in using Excel Spreadsheets. Experience in using Internet based programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude to bring positive changes.
  • Work on own initiative and under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to train others
  • Ability to work effectively with others and achieve results
  • Commitment to the aims, objectives and organisational culture of Oxfam GB.
  • Knowledge about financial procedures of major donor agencies, such as: UNICEF, UNHCR, ECHO, DFID, Oxfam affiliates, SDC, etc.
  • Gender knowledge and cultural sensitivity with a strong commitment and understanding of Oxfam's values and principles

Desirable

  • Willingness to travel at short notice, and often in difficult circumstances
  • Knowledge or appreciation of Coxs Bazar in term of cultural, economic and social trends plus a good understanding of the key development and humanitarian issues in the Country.
  • Willingness to work extra hours as necessary
