The role:

The WASH Specialist will provide strategic vision, guidance, and technical leadership for Oxfam’s country programme in the WASH sector. Responsibilities include delivering the WASH strategy, leading the design and scaling of the WASH portfolio, and strengthening emergency response through preparedness and contingency plans. The role ensures technical quality in donor reports, mainstreams gender and protection, and promotes safe programming. Additionally, the Specialist will shape response approaches, engage in advocacy, represent Oxfam on WASH issues at high levels, and maintain professional relations with donors and stakeholders.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be/have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Sanitation, Water Resources, Hydrogeology, or a related WASH field.
  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant field or a diploma in project management is an asset.
  • Minimum of 6 years of practical WASH sector experience, including 2 years in a refugee context, leading large-scale sanitation or water supply projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Emergency WASH preparedness and response in leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to plan, build, and deliver WASH initiatives.
  • Strong skills in developing vision into strategy and effectively communicating and influencing a wider audience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and collaborate with others, navigate complex problems, and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in teamwork, building trust, and empowering teams.

Job type: Fixed Term, Contractual.

Salary & Benefits: as per Oxfam National C2 pay band, the starting annual salary for this role is BDT2,104,742.00 (13 months) with other benefits e.g., medical for self, spouse and children, contributory provident fund, gratuity, leave, life insurance, mobile allowance, and other admissible benefits as per the organizational policy. For highly competent & experienced candidates the salary can be negotiable.
