About you

You should have a Master’s degree in Public Policy, Nutrition, Public Health, International Development, Development Economics, or a related field with a minimum 7 years of experience in the health and or nutrition sector in country. Progressively responsible experience in policy development, governance, or systems strengthening, in the health or nutrition sector is preferred alongwith a demonstrated experience of facilitating multisectoral policy initiatives like development of nutrition policies and plans and stakeholder coordination mechanisms such as national or subnational nutrition coordination committees or working groups.
Fluency in English and Bangla is a prerequisite.

About the role

The key objective of this position is to implement NI’s nutrition policy and governance initiatives in Bangladesh. This pivotal role will support NI’s mission to improve nutrition outcomes by strengthening national and sub-national nutrition governance, including policies and systems. The National Policy Officer (NPO) will shape, implement and coordinate NI’s nutrition governance projects in the country, ensuring the portfolio’s goals are achieved. In this role you will be responsible to:

  • Lead, as part of the country team and in close collaboration with the Governance Portfolio, the development of a multi-year plan for strengthening nutrition governance in Bangladesh.
  • Identify emerging opportunities for engagement and tailor NI’s governance work to national and sub-national policy priorities, while maintaining alignment with the strategic objectives of the Country Office and the Nutrition Governance portfolio.
  • Coordinate NI’s contributions and technical inputs into the development and finalization of relevant nutrition policy documents, including, but not limited to, the National Nutrition Policy (NNP) and the National Plan of Action for Nutrition (NPAN).
  • Lead NI’s support to the Government of Bangladesh on the operationalization, monitoring, and reporting of Nutrition for Growth (N4G) commitments.
  • Cultivate and manage strong, collaborative relationships with government stakeholders, development partners, civil society organizations (CSOs) and other key in-country stakeholders, to ensure effective coordination and implementation of governance initiatives and alignment with Bangladesh’s nutrition priorities and sectoral plans.
  • Lead evidence generation and learning processes to strengthen institutional knowledge and programming approaches in the field of nutrition Governance.
