Know our team:

Nutrition International promotes an evidence-based approach to advocacy, decision making, multi-sectoral country planning, and the setting of nutrition agendas. The Global Technical Services (GTS) Unit is Nutrition International’s Centre of Technical Excellence. The GTS Unit, based in Ottawa, leads on the quality assurance of and technical support to Nutrition International’s research and programs to influence and improve national and global policies and practice. Currently, Nutrition International (NI) is seeking applications for a Regional Gender Equality Advisor, Asia to be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The purpose of this new post is to act as a principal resource on gender equality issues for NI’s programs and projects in the Asia region, with particular support for the AMAN project in Bangladesh, by supporting gender analyses and action planning, training and capacity building for project staff and local partners, identifying and assisting in monitoring gender equality outcomes and indicators.

About you:

You are someone with postgraduate level degree, masters/doctorate, from a recognized university in nutrition or public health (with emphasis gender/women’s studies). Other relevant discipline will be considered with significant relevant experience. You have at least 5 years in programs relating to adolescent health and nutrition, and/or maternal health and nutrition, and/or sexual reproductive health and nutrition, and/or infant and child survival programming ideally with a focus at the community level in low- and middle- income countries. You have excellent communication skills and 6-8 experience with gender-responsive (nutrition or public health) program design and implementation is an asset

Fluency in English and Bangla are required.

About the role:

Under the supervision of Global Gender Advisor, HQ, Ottawa, the Regional Gender Equality Advisor, Asia is responsible for providing gender-sensitive technical support to the Asia region with particular support to AMAN Project in Bangladesh. Part of the role also includes exploring and supporting regional or country-level partnerships with gender and/or child-focused and women’s rights organizations in pursuit of achieving NI’s gender equality programming and strategic goals as well as supporting fundraising and business development activities in this area

In this role you will:

  • Support NI’s gender mainstreaming approach within identified projects as defined in the Program Gender Equality Strategy.
  • Contribute, as delegated, to knowledge translation documents such as policy briefs, summary briefs, blogs, and case studies on topics that include, but are not limited to, formative research, behavior change intervention strategies, supply chain management, health management information systems, nutrition policies, gender equality and gender equity issues related to health in nutrition
  • Support in Donor stewardship Quality assurance of project deliverables related to gender equality
  • Support the country teams in program compliance and management.
