Know our team:
The NI Project entitled Adopting a Multisectoral Approach for Nutrition in Bangladesh (AMAN) funded by the Government of Canada (GAC), is designed to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable and hard to-reach people in Cox’s Bazar. The project will be implemented in partnership with the Government of Bangladesh over a 30-month period and will focus on:

  1. The provision and uptake of essential nutrition services delivered through the public health system that meet the specific needs of women, newborns, children and adolescent girls.
  2. The coordination and implementation of nutrition actions of the multisectoral minimum nutrition package by priority ministries and overseen by district and upazila nutrition coordination committees.

Nutrition International’s Global Technical Services (GTS) Unit, based in Ottawa, leads on the quality assurance of research and programs, and the dissemination and translation of new knowledge to influence and improve national and global policies and practice.

Under the supervision of GTS, the AMAN Technical Advisor is responsible for providing gendersensitive technical support to the AMAN project and coordinating the access to in-house expertise and external experts for priority activities to assure that NI-led activities and reporting under the AMAN Project are technically sound. The Technical Advisor will be based in the NI Bangladesh office, as the GTS focal point.

The Technical Advisor will be the liaison between GTS and the country AMAN team and is expected to work closely with NI AMAN Project team in the Bangladesh country office, the assigned Technical Advisors within the NI Asia Regional Office, and all Senior Technical Advisors within GTS, to support the quality implementation of NI-led activities.

About you:
You are someone with a postgraduate level degree, masters/doctorate, from a recognized university in nutrition or public health (with emphasis on nutrition). You have atleast 7 years of experience in program relating to child survival, adolescent health and nutrition, and/or maternal health and nutrition, ideally with focus on the community. You have excellent communication skills and experience

About the role
Work closely with the AMAN Project team and provide gender-sensitive technical advisory inputs, and/or quality assurance of program and research planning, implementation, monitoring, assessment, and reporting as required. Specifically:

In this role you will:

  • Under the guidance of senior technical advisors and the VP of GTS, provide technical assistance to strengthen the NI-led work
  • Coordinate and monitor provision of gender-sensitive nutrition technical advice by GTS or other external experts to project staff in support of the implementation of NI-led work as per AMAN annual work plans and budget.
  • Develop, maintain and implement a research agenda (including operations and implementation research) developed by the AMAN research coordination team, organize regular meetings and document decisions to inform the Research and Project workplans
  • Support the design, implementation, knowledge translation and dissemination of results from research studies under AMAN in conjunction with the relevant members of the research coordination team.
  • Contribute, as delegated, to peer-reviewed publications and/or other documentation to disseminate lessons learned and key findings arising from AMAN including all research activities.
  • Disseminate, as delegated, in close coordination with other units, NI’s work regarding this project, including (a) representation at regional and international meetings; (b) publications and presentations; (c) policy advocacy.
