Media Manger, Tobacco Control Program

National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh is a service oriented, non-profit organization, supported and approved by the Government of Bangladesh. The foundation is working for treatment, control and prevention of cardiovascular disease in Bangladesh. It operates one of the largest cardiac care hospitals in the country. Apart from clinical services, the foundation implements several projects including hypertension control program, tobacco control program, trans-fat elimination program, road safety program etc.

Currently NHFB is looking for a Media Manager for its’ Tobacco Control Program. Interested candidates meeting the requirements (mentioned below) are requested to apply at earliest. Resumes will be accepted until the position is filled.

Contract duration: For 2 months initially (with possibility of extension).

Joining Date: 01 December 2022

Specific duties include:

  • Work closely with government and initiative partners to fulfil project objectives
  • Create a strategic communication workplan to maximize the quality and quantity of media coverage on project activities
  • Write regular blogs and social media posts and conduct social media campaign to communicate local progress, disseminate information
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists to engage around tobacco control focus
  • Organize events, trainings, workshops
  • Contribute to curriculum and methodology development for the journalism workshops and fellowship programs, and carry out journalist trainings, oversee follow-up efforts and maintain master list of trained journalists across all regions
  • Media monitoring
  • Any other duties assigned by the authority

Skills and Qualifications

  • BSS with MSS in Journalism or Communication, at least one CGPA 3.5 either in BSS or MSS
  • Excellent communication skills
  • At least 5 years’ experience in communications field with at least 2 years in public health, particularly in tobacco control field
  • Familiarity with public policy, media relations and advocacy
  • Strong writing and editing skills in (local language), as well as ability to produce written media relations materials such as press releases, talking points and fact sheets
  • Proven capacity to work with colleagues in multidisciplinary or multi-agency setting
  • English language proficiency
  • Reporting and documentation
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience in content development, photography, video documentary based on research findings
