Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Arts from any reputed public university in Bangladesh or any reputable university abroad
  • No 3rd Class or CGPA less than 2.5 in any of the public examinations
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in development sector with any reputed organisation, including at least 3 years in senior management positions
  • Excellent in Bangla and English, both written and spoken

Other requirements

  • Proven experience and expertise in at least one of the NETZ sector programmes (climate-resilient livelihoods, inclusive quality education and equal human rights).
  • Knowledge and practical experience in designing and executing applied research
  • Committed and capable to bring changes in the life of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in Bangladesh and neighbouring regions
  • Committed to equal rights of people irrespective of sex, race, religion, age or any other identity
  • Proven capabilities in supportive supervision, capacity development and performance management, facilitation of training and workshop sessions, and inclusive leadership
  • Demonstrated expertise in participatory approach including planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • Demonstrated abilities in working with strategic planning and project design
  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Openness to continuous learnings and willingness to grow into a stronger role within the NETZ BO team

Job summary

The Strategic Coordinator (SC) contributes to the management of NETZ supported programmes. She provides conceptual and strategic guidance to the thematic team of NETZ BO. Moreover, the SC is responsible for ensuring that the programmes in Bangladesh are making an impact for the people we work for; staff members of the NETZ BO are capable of monitoring and guiding the PNGOs and projects supported by NETZ; and NETZ is able to access resources necessary for running projects at the optimal level.

Major responsibilities

  • The SC contributes to designing and developing projects in at least two sector programmes of NETZ; provides support to team leaders in ensuring quality management of projects; ensures embeddedness of NETZ programmes with broader civil society initiatives in Bangladesh; and maintains effective cooperation between the NETZ BO and the NETZ Germany Office (GO).
  • The SC participates in short-term and long-term planning of the sectoral team and develops teams with thematic understanding. She ensures ethical standards of NETZ including child protection policy, gender policy and code of conduct against sexual harassment. She contributes to development of the organisational policies and strategic directions along with the management team of the NETZ BO.
  • The SC is responsible to guide research initiatives on thematic issues; facilitates documentation of the lessons learnt from the programmes; significantly contributes to knowledge management.
  • Contributing to human resource management including motivation, the SC ensures thematic capacity development and on-the-job coaching of the co-workers. She will support GO colleagues in gaining deeper understanding of Bangladesh and development cooperation from a Bangladeshi perspective.
  • The SC contributes to assessing new NGOs and the partner NGOs following the NETZ partnership guideline; visits the partner NGOs, projects and the target groups on a regular basis; supports the programme teams in motivating and building thematic capacity of the partner NGOs.
  • The holder of the post contributes to funding opportunities following NETZ approaches and sectoral goals as well as promotes relationships with relevant institutional donors and international NGOs.
  • The SC contributes to designing and development of the advocacy and campaign of NETZ and gets involved in the advocacy and campaign events at the national and international level.

Compensation

Based on the merit and experience, the compensation package ranges from BDT 30 lakh to 36 lakh per annum including all other benefits.
