Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS), a national-level non-government organization started its mission to stand by the distressed people with humanitarian aid when the country was hit by a massive flood in 1974. Having an organizational shape in 1977, MSS redirected its focus to poverty alleviation and empowerment of the poor especially the urban and rural women of Bangladesh. Thereafter, MSS started a health and population services in 1982; an integrated savings and credit program for the urban poor in 1984 which has since become sustainable. MSS was again on the front line when the focus of development shifted to building democratic societies and promoting good governance.

Alongside working for poverty alleviation of the marginalized people, MSS is also promoting child rights, food security, health and nutrition services, housing, and non-formal primary education with a vision to establish a society free from poverty where there is equality among citizens and citizens' rights are respected. MSS is expanding its Social Services Program and intends to recruit qualified manpower for the following position:

Key Responsibilities

Major responsibilities include (but not limited to)

  • Responsible for providing support in initiating, managing, and implementing of different health & Education programs and events under the social services program of MSS.
  • Provide support to head office and field level team members in the implementation of Health & Education related activities at the community level.
  • Design/assist in developing different Health & Education programs, events, and training materials to meet the goals of the social services program of the organization.
  • Regular on-site monitoring of the program activities, and sessions and support implementation of jointly developed plans.
  • Follow up sessions, services, maintain records and provide the necessary support to field team members.
  • Capacity Building of assigned field team members on different initiatives, and strategies of Health & Education programs of the organization.
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of budgets for different Health & Education programs and oversee the expenditures.
  • Assist in developing appropriate tools to measure the impact of Health & Education activities, training on learning aids /materials/toy making, etc.
  • Work closely with other managers, vendors, and financial supporters in developing, maintaining, and ensuring adherence to budgets.
  • Build and maintain reliable partnerships and healthy relationships with the community, other organizations, donors/sponsors, health & education service providers, and government agencies.
  • Prepare reports independently and provide support in the preparation of different reports and also presentations on the basis of reports to the senior management of MSS to keep them informed about ongoing activities and education program development.
  • Develop and support the development of scholarship programs to complement the education program.
  • Provide support in the preparation of different presentations on programs' activities to national and international visitors.
  • Support in documenting success stories and case studies of the program.
  • Willing to work in any natural disaster or emergency situation anywhere in Bangladesh
  • Attend training, meetings, and workshops to update knowledge and skills as assigned and disseminate new knowledge/ information/lessons learned.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

Educational Requirements:

  • Master’s degree, preferably in Social Sciences/ Social work/ Public Health/ Non-formal education/ urban development or relevant subjects from any recognized university with good academic results. Applicants with 3rd class in any level of education will not be considered.

Experience:

  • 2 to 3 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
    • Health & Education (formal and non-formal education program)

Additional Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of working experience including 2 years in the Health & Education program in any national/international NGO.
  • Clear understanding of learning outcomes improvement for Health, formal and non-formal education inter-linkages will be a plus for the candidate.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented and ability to work with a diversified group of people.
  • Analytical and Multi-tasking skills to meet deadlines consistently
  • Understanding organizational goals and objectives and operating programs accordingly.
  • Good skills in training design and facilitation, report writing ability both in English and Bangla.
  • Proficiency in computer use, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet, etc.

Job Location: Head Office/Project Office, Dhaka (with needed field visit)

Salary & other benefits:

  • BDT. 27,000/- to 35,000/- per month.
