Position: Senior Executive, External Affairs

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all kinds of licensing, renewal and documentation of Meena Sweets for all outlets and factory (City Corporation, BSTI, VAT and IRC & ERC). Monitor all documents are up-to-date and is renewed before expiry to avoid any kind of penalty.
  • Ensure registration, renewal and documentation for all delivery vans. Monitor all documents are up-to-date and is renewed before expiry to avoid any kind of penalty.
  • Manage the Government and Public Affairs Committee (City Corporation, BSTI, VAT, IRC & ERC) and its task groups. Recommend and implement strategy for accomplishing Committee objectives and provide appropriate follow up to Committee actions.
  • Assist the organization with the management of other member committees as necessary, especially those that may have legislative issues, such as Labour Ministry, Consumer Rights, Food Safety Authority
  • Monitor and evaluate state legislation and other governmental actions and initiatives. Manage Meena Sweets review of, and response to, said legislation, etc. Provide regular reports to the HOO & Operation Manager on the status of pending legislation affecting Meena Sweets objectives.
  • Source locations for new outlets of Meena Sweets, seek and deliver authentic information about new and existing outlets and manage relationship with the shop or land owners.
  • Assist in the preparation of Meena Sweets public statements on legislative issues and regulatory proposals, facilitating committee member agreement and ensuring a quality product and consistency.
  • Meena Sweets External Affairs personnel is required to perform lobbying activity as necessary, assisting in the development of legislative testimony.
  • Maintain liaison with police, traffic sergeants and other relevant bodies for smoother operation of factory, outlets, delivery vans, motorbikes and etc.
  • Assist the Operation Manager in developing and maintaining the miscellaneous budget for all kind of government bodies.
  • Supervise development of any informational publications for distribution to the public and government agencies.
  • Serve as the point of contact for any contract agencies on advocacy and communication efforts as necessary.
  • Maintain active memberships in related professional associations and industry organizations.
  • Develop and maintain an effective database of relevant government bodies, media and policy contacts.
  • Perform other technical and support functions as assigned by the HOO.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Honors or Masters degree in political science or communications/public relations from a reputed university.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience preferably in public policy/communications related field.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to effectively manage and coordinate committee efforts to achieve consensus on committee actions and policy positions.
  • Ability to mediate and negotiate potential disputes or misunderstandings between company and public agencies with diplomacy and tact.
  • Strong writing and editing experience, including experience with online.
  • Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish working relationships with local, state and federal officials.
  • Current relationships with legislative leadership and staff is preferred.
  • Ability to travel on frequent basis as needed each legislative session.
  • Experience working on advocacy projects and/or external management.
  • Interest in developing an in-depth knowledge and understanding of industry operations, government operations, and statutory and regulatory requirements to which the industry is subject.

Additional Requirements

  • Age 28 to 40 years.
  • Excellent working proficiency in MS-Excel and workable knowledge in PowerPoint.
  • Should be elegant, energetic & have pleasant personality.
  • Decision making ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skill, dynamic, self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication skill both in English & Bangla.

Employment Status: Permanent.
