Project Brief: Biodiversity for Resilient Livelihoods (B4RL) in the Modified Ganges Delta of Bangladesh Project aims to promote improved management systems that are inclusive and adaptive which enhance social-ecological resilience, ensuring sustainable use and protection of natural resources in Bangladesh's modified lower Ganges Delta covering Shyamnagar sub-district of Satkhira, Dacope and Koyra sub-districts of Khulna, Magura Sadar and Shalikha sub-districts of Magura district. The project will restore, enhance, and protect ecosystems-biodiversity towards building “resilient social-ecological production landscapes.” These interventions will address three areas of concern: climate change, disaster, and resilience by demonstrating ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA), ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR), and biodiversity-focused livelihoods as viable local adaptations to climate-induced threats in a gender, youth, and social-inclusive approach. The project envisages sensitizing and mobilizing 20,000 marginalized and vulnerable households from local communities in project sites.

Part I: Job Statement

The Documentation and Reporting Officer will be responsible for documentation, reporting, and close monitoring of the project activities, produce monthly and quarterly reports, participate in monthly meetings, and carry out relevant studies within the project’s scope in project sites.

Part II: Job Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Review and monitor project field activities and identify gaps and challenges in project implementation.
  • Quality assessment through regular monitoring of project implementation aligning with the performance indicators and reporting to the Field Manager.
  • Coordinate with the Knowledge Management Manager, Field Manager, Site officers, and implementation team to ensure the functionality of the M&E framework
  • Ensure real-time data collection and reporting to the Knowledge Management Manager and Field Manager so that all project activities are adequately captured, validated, and reported.
  • Contribute in the development of IEC materials.
  • Support and ensure the monitoring and reporting process of the project for setting baselines of all indicators, monthly and quarterly reporting, impact and evaluation studies, and relevant technical studies/assessments
  • Update the Field Manager regarding the project database on soft form in line with Performance Monitoring Plan indicators
  • Incorporate gender-disaggregated data and ensure reflection of inclusive implementation in reporting in collaboration with the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Manager.
  • Provide backstopping on incorporating qualitative aspects (cross-cutting issues, participation, secondary stakeholder coordination) in project implementation activities.
  • Ensure that team members store and disseminate required source documents.
  • Deliver reports on project events and similar organizational activities.
  • Design, implement, and learn systems that are to be applied to the project.
  • Assist the site level staff as necessary for quality implementation of the project activities.
  • Prepare monthly monitoring (narrative) reports and progress reports (qualitative and quantitative), quarterly progress reports (narrative).
  • Adhere to organizational policies and project standards.
  • Ensure safety and well-being of team members and participants.
  • Promote and endorse safeguarding policy among staff.
  • Follow reporting procedures for safeguarding related incidents and encourage others to do so
  • Perform any other task as and when assigned by the Management.

Part III: Required Qualifications and Competencies

Academic Qualification:  Post-graduate degree in science or social sciences. Preference will be given to candidates with degrees in the field of Economics, forestry, Environment/Climate Change, Development Studies, Agriculture, Sociology, Anthropology, Statistics, Geography etc.

Experiences:  

  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in locally led adaptation in the context of natural resource management, co-management, climate justice & resilience. At least 02 years’ experience in a similar position with demonstrated skills in project-related documentation and reporting.
  • Deeper understanding of the bio-physical and socio-economic conditions of Bangladesh.

  • Excellent computer literacy especially MS Office applications

  • Good hand in writing both narrative and quantitative Reports in English and Bangla.
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English and Bangla.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Willing to drive motorcycle having a valid driving license.
  • Respect for local culture and understanding local languages is preferable.
  • Abilities and willingness to undertake extensive travel.

Salary:  The monthly consolidated salary (all-inclusive) BDT 65,000/-.
