Job Context:

  • A Dhaka based leading national level NGO engaged in socio-economic development since 1974 invites application from suitable candidates for the position of Community Educator (Health & Nutrition) for its Save the Children supported Shishuder Jonno  Integrated Child Development Program (SJ ICDP) being implemented in urban area of Dhaka.
  • The Community Educator-CE (Health & Nutrition) will be responsible mainly to ensure smooth implementation of field based activities.

The most important responsibility will be: arrange/conduct session, explore local materials, reporting and program related field work e.g. age wise group formation with the support of Community Organizer (CO), bringing children from HH &  follow up, material review, ensure the regular presence of participants, managing RC specific administrative tasks & so on.
Job responsibilities:

  • With the coordination of Community Educator-Education, one of the key responsibilities of Community Educator-Health & Nutrition will be Resource Center management in communication with respective assigned Program Officer regularly.
  • Have close communication with Resource Center management committee members and community
  • Rapport build up with families, community people, community leaders community based/field level staff/representatives of other NGO(s)/service providers for smooth implementation
  • Responsible for component specific/activity wise group/committee formation, nursing of the group as and when necessary, record keeping, case history preparation in coordination with Community Organizer-Health and Nutrition and technical support from POs.
  • With the technical support of respective program officer CE is responsible for conducting session by maintaining quality of H & N component (i.e. Community Based Health Education (CBHE), Pregnant women session, in laws session, new born mother, session of parents of under five children, adolescent development related session etc.)  in Resource Center.
  • Responsible for Video show by using multimedia projector.
  • Responsible for maintaining and using of First Aid Box.
  • Create joyful learning opportunity for children in the Resource Center.
  • Maintain and update Health and Nutrition focused activity related different registers to keep record and follow up beneficiaries
  • Make prior demand notice/requisition for the materials related to Health and Nutrition for RC based program implementation and maintain all materials of store.
  • Follow the Child Safeguarding Policy, organizational guideline and code of conduct (MSS, SCI)
  • Arrange any kind of RC wise program/ activities
  • Ensure the presence of RC based session participants for health & nutrition component with the assistance of Community Organizers (COs).
  • Inform the beneficiaries about program activity
  • Counselling mothers and/or caregivers and distribute nutrition supplement, Iron- folic acid as per plan among pregnant women, new mother & under-5 children during campaign. 
  • As team member, organize events i.e. De-worming event 2 times, day observation i.e. Global Handwashing Day, world Pneumonia Day, child rights week, campaign etc. and ensure participation of targeted participants.
  • Maintain RC based all types of health & nutrition related register.
  • As part of referral linkage, follow up with adolescents to receive health services from health service providers i.e. UPHCSDP.
  • Need assessment for IGA/Livelihood related activities among adolescents
  • Prepare primary report as per checklist/guideline and submit to respective PO for producing monthly/quarterly progress report/annual report

Educational Requirements: Minimum Bachelor Degree in any discipline

Other Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar position, preferably in any urban program
  • Age at most 35 years
  • Preference will be given to the candidates having working experience in urban program implementation
  • Proven skills on Microsoft Office Package
