Invitation for “Primary Education Coordinator”

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is an implementing agency of Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) in Bangladesh since 1974. With our vision “Inclusive and Dynamic Development”, JICA aims to provide effective support to promote development that will result in sustainable socioeconomic growth and poverty reduction.

The Government of Japan has long been supporting primary education in Bangladesh. Currently, it provides grant to the Bangladesh Government’s Fourth Primary Education Development Program (PEDP4). JICA is a member of a consortium of development partners supporting PEDP4.

Under the supervision of JICA Bangladesh office and Primary Education Advisor, the incumbent serves as key technical staff to collect and analyze information in relation to primary education and PEDP4, provides support in management and reporting, and makes recommendations on programming, resource allocation, and policy decisions of JICA’s support in primary education. The consultant will be deployed on the basis of individual capacity:

  1. Master's degree in education, economics or relevant subject is required
  2. At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience in education or other social sector is required.
  3. At least three years' experience of work for the Government of Bangladesh, a foreign government, international development agency, or NGOs is required.
  4. Senior level expertise to interact with Government policy makers and development partners is required.
  5. Fluency in English and Bangla required. 

The initial period of contract is one year with three months’ probation period, with a possibility of annual extension up to June 2023.
 

JICA invites eligible applicants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Applicants are requested to submit their request as per JICA instruction mentioned in the “Request for Quotation”

Interested applicants are requested to collect the “Request for Quotation” and the detail Terms of References by sending a formal request to the e-mail address (bd_oso_rep@jica.go.jp) by 02:00 pm, 17th March 2019.

The request must be submitted by 18th March, 2019 up to 4:00 pm at JICA Bangladesh Office during office hours (Sunday-Thursday: 8:30-16:30). CV and other documents shall be in a sealed envelope and be clearly marked “Application for the post of consultant (Primary Education Coordinator)”. Any application received after the deadline will not be considered for the position and discarded.

Only short listed candidates will be contacted. Those who will pass the primary selection will be invited to 2nd selection. A 1 hour examination will be held at JICA Bangladesh Office. Examination date will be informed to the shortlisted candidates.
