JAGO NARI is working in the development sector since 1998 for women empowerment and reduces inequality at coastal districts of Bangladesh. JAGO NARI will be implementing the “Promoting Disaster Ready Inclusive Preparedness towards Adaptation (PRODRIPTA/প্রদৃপ্ত)” project with the support of CARE Bangladesh. This three-year program aims to foster inclusive community preparedness and resilience through the combination of disaster-ready communities and accountable institutions in the central coast district of Patuakhali. The PRODRIPTA/প্রদৃপ্ত project has a multifaceted approach to make a meaningful, measurable, and sustainable difference in a defined period of time in the four (04) selected unions of Rangabali and Kalapara Upazila in Patuakhali Districts.

Job Description / Responsibility

  • Will be responsible for the timely and quality implementation of all deliverables on behalf of the organization: Climate Change Adaptation and Innovation Piloting, Community led Agri. and WASH activities implementation, FPP/CPP volunteers’ selection and capacity building; Community Mobilization; Formulating CVCA and CAP.
  • Mobilizing Contingency Fund as per donor requirement, local coordination and donor reporting.
  • S/he will supervise all field level activities to ensure that all staffs are working according to the project work plan. S/he will be responsible for local level coordination to ensure community and administration’s buy-in; provide systematic feedback for smooth implementation of program activities in all the targeted Unions and Upazilas. He will also be responsible for supporting the preparation and full implementation of the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Plan and Environmental Mitigation and Management Plan (EMMP) and Climate Risk Management Plan (CMP).
  • S/he will be responsible for timely reporting (narrative, financial and MEL) and ensuring environmental, quality control and administrative/ financial compliance of the donor.
  • S/he will maintain regular liaison with the Program Manager-PRODRIPTA (CARE part) to plan and implement all activities and timely and adequate donor reporting.
  • Submit monthly, Quarterly and yearly report to the Program Coordinator/Chief Executive on the progress and achievements; also report on weak points and suggested remedies.
  • Control over expenses through Budget Expenditure Summary (BES).
  • Participate in the Senior Management Meetings of JAGO NARI to share project updates and ideas/views for the development of the project and other projects as well.
  • Submit monthly target and achievement report to head office
  • Ensure preparation of Project Implementation Plan (PIP) and Project implementation Guideline (PIG) for implementation of the Project activities covering the area of operation.
  • Ensure that the monthly schedule is prepared for all the staffs under the area of operation and activities are done as per schedule.
  • Monitor the progress of planed activities to ensure that the activities are done in a qualitative and quantitative way within the stipulated time frame.
  • Ensure proper planning, designing, organizing and facilitation of the orientation/discussion sessions, meetings, workshops, seminars etc. at the Union, Upazila and District level.
  • Ensure visibility of the donors and organization as applicable.
  • Ensure preparation of the budget for the project having input from all concern.
  • Participate in internal audit/evaluation process and take corrective measures as per findings of the audit/evaluation report.
  • Ensure that project staff establish and maintain liaison/coordination with the local level stakeholders, GOs, NGOs and donor agencies relevant to the project and Local Government Development Programming.
  • Maintain regular communication with local administration and smooth operation of the program activities.
  • Undertake staff development training as part of the related project activities and undertake orientation, discussion sessions etc. to address the staff development needs thereby ensuring effective implementation of the project activities.
  • Plan and implement staff performance appraisal as staff development mechanism.
  • Ensure that the staffs are well aware of the gender policy, child protection policy, human rights, and governance issues and following those in dealing with the colleagues including the project participants.
  • Ensure that an enabling environment is prevailing at the work place and staffs are working well enjoying equal opportunities irrespective of male and female.

 Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in any discipline; preference will be given to post graduate degree in Social Science and/or Development Studies and/or Disaster Management.

  • Experienced in developing annual, quarterly and monthly plans, budget and reports;
  • Able to provide technical guidance to, and mobilize logistic supports for, and supervise the project staff for effective implementation of project activities;
  • Day to day coordination and monitoring of project activities
  • Guide the project team in organizing communities and support community based organizations for their organizational and technical capacity building;
  • Guide the project team in the Climate Change Adaptation and Innovation Piloting, activities maintaining quality and Environmental Compliance
  • Management capacity development of project staffs and volunteers through mentoring and coaching;
  • Coordination and maintain liaison with government bodies and key stakeholders;
  • Any other tasks assigned by management

Core Competencies:

  • Familiar with bio-physical and socio-economic condition of Central Costal Districts (Patuakhali).
  • Skills in project cycle management;
  • Good understanding on issues of Disaster Risk Reduction and climate change; gender equity, protection and multicultural intervention.
  • Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in local language, English and Bengali;
  • Pro-active and participatory decision-making and problem-solving;
  • Ability to communicate with people from different cultures and backgrounds;
