Vacancy Announcement - Knowledge Management Specialist
ITN-BUET aims to build capacity within the Water Supply and Sanitation sector in the country. The center intends to recruit the following position under the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-supported project.
Position: Knowledge Management Specialist
Roles and Responsibilities
The incumbent will work as a Knowledge Management Specialist for the BMGF-funded Scaling Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) and Sanitation Innovation project. The Knowledge Management Specialist will be responsible for implementing project activities in general and specifically carrying out the following:
- Design and implement effective learning activities: In collaboration with DPHE and sector representatives, work with the project team to scope and implement appropriate and effective knowledge-enhancing and sharing activities.
- Manage knowledge-sharing events: Scope and manage the successful execution of knowledge-sharing events, including training sessions, seminars/webinars, workshops, conferences, and peer-learning sessions.
- Generate and publish knowledge products: Develop knowledge products and prepare them for publication following the guidelines of the center and the donor.
- Manage community engagement: Design and implement community awareness programs, respond to project recipients' needs in a timely manner, and engage them in a meaningful knowledge exchange process.
- Document and disseminate learning: Ensure that the requirements, lessons learned, and best practices from events and other knowledge management activities are clearly documented and uploaded to the ITN-BUET website and social media platforms.
- Conduct independent research: Demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research, collect and curate research data, and write technical articles.
- Engage partners and learning champions: Work with the project team, partners, and learning champions to expand various learning activities, enhance the ITN-BUET resource pool, and strengthen collaboration with external partners.
- Collaborate with peers: Work closely with management and other project personnel on communications, web development, training, research, learning events, and publications to ensure alignment and cohesion.
- Monitor and evaluate: Develop and implement monitoring mechanisms to track progress, report outcomes, and evaluate the quality of work.
- Be innovative: Think creatively to identify and implement more effective ways to engage audiences and facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Deliver timely outputs: Ensure tasks are completed proactively and high-quality work is delivered on time.
- Any other necessary tasks assigned by the Manager/Director/Supervisors.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have:
- At least a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Health, International Relations, Development Studies, Disaster Management, or a relevant field.
- A minimum of five years of work experience, preferably in the WASH and development sectors.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Bangla.
- Established linkages with sector agencies, multilateral and bilateral development partners, UN agencies, I/NGOs, and global resource centers through professional activities.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets.

Salary range is negotiable based on qualifications and experience in related fields.
The selected candidate will initially be offered a six-month contract as a probationary period, which may be extended based on satisfactory performance.
