Background of Islamic Relief Bangladesh:

Islamic Relief Bangladesh (IRB) has been working in this country since 1991, when it provided emergency relief and supported communities to rebuild in the wake of a devastating cyclone. Since then, it has expanded its programs to focus on both humanitarian and development challenges. The organization envisages a caring world where communities are empowered, social obligations are fulfilled and people respond as one to the suffering of others. It has a presence in 35 districts. To support vulnerable communities with multifaceted interventions, its’ programmes often encompass many interlinked areas. These include the Humanitarian and Resilience Programme, Child Rights and Inclusion Programme, and Economic Empowerment and Governance Programme.

Overview of the Project:

Islamic Relief Bangladesh (IRB) strictly maintains the organizational Safeguarding policy. Under the Safeguarding Department, a project is named “Establishing a Community and Faith-Based Approach to Safeguarding and PSEA in Humanitarian Programmes” funded by IR Canada. This project aims at mainstreaming Safeguarding in all aspects of the organization. One of the major activities of this project is to translate the organizational Safeguarding Policies from English to Bengali.

The Assignment: description and Objectives  

Islamic Relief Bangladesh is determined to translate the Safeguarding policies into Bengali language. Keeping the above intention in view, IRB expects to engage an individual consultant or a consulting firm to undertake the above-titled assessment.  

Specific Objectives:

To enhance the knowledge of the staff members on Safeguarding/PSEA-related knowledge and to bring confidence in ensuring Safeguarding in all operations of IRB by capacity building of the staff members

Scope of Works

The following policies need to be translated under this assignment:

Deliverables:

The individual consultant or farm will be solely responsible for completing the assignment. After completion of the assignment, the consult will have to provide IRB with the following;

• Translated copies of the policies.

Timeframe & Reporting:

It is expected that the consultant/farm has to complete the whole task within 25 working days within a month. The assignment would likely be started from January 1, 2024. A detailed work plan will be finalized upon signing the contract. All drafts and final copies of the Translation should be submitted through Senior Safeguarding, P&I Officer-Safeguarding Department in electronic version. The individual consultant/farm will be reported to the Senior Safeguarding, P&I Officer-Safeguarding Department.

Profile of the Consultant:

The consultant/farm should have expertise and experience in Translation services. The consultant/farm should have the following academic qualifications and experiences:

• Master’s Degree in English, Social Science, Law or relevant background.
• Consultant/farm should have a comprehensive understanding of the topics Safeguarding, Gender, and PSEA and must have excellent writing skills.
• Experience in translating policies/documents/academic papers with other reputed organizations.
• Should have good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bangla.

• Technical proposal
• Financial proposal mentioning the provision of VAT & TAX
• Detail CV or (CVs including the team members) mentioning relevant expertise and experiences of conducting studies
• E-TIN/B-TIN/Trade License
• Experience certificate/publication web link/ Hard copy

The technical proposal should include

• Understanding of assignment
• Methodology
• Details work plan mentioning timeframe and level of efforts
