Since 2017, IRC has supported Rohingya Refugees and Bangladeshi nationalities communities in Cox's Bazar, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong with integrated services. The organization also addresses climate change impacts by building resilience and promoting economic recovery, education, and protection.

Purpose

The Communication Expert will lead the development and execution of communication strategies that support GBV prevention, youth empowerment, and gender inclusion. This includes designing SBCC (Social and Behavior Change Communication) guidelines, managing awareness campaigns, documenting best practices, and supporting advocacy efforts. The role requires close collaboration with community mobilizers, technical experts, and government stakeholders to ensure impactful and inclusive messaging.

Major Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project communication strategies aligned with ISO objectives.
  • Design SBCC guidelines for sensitization, awareness building, and behavior change.
  • Support advocacy strategy development and implementation through consortium partners.
  • Lead the design and execution of 5,000 awareness activities in schools, colleges, madrasas, and vocational institutions.
  • Coordinate 500 Theatre for Development shows to promote GBV and child marriage prevention.
  • Engage 50,000 men and boys through sensitization meetings, games, and interactive sessions.
  • Document best practices related to gender equality, youth empowerment, and inclusion.
    Prepare evidence-based materials to support policy advocacy and donor reporting.
    Develop communication materials including brochures, posters, videos, and digital content.
  • Build rapport and maintain relationships with media, local influencers, government representatives, and community leaders.
  • Engage with media outlets to promote project visibility, disseminate key messages, and support both advocacy and programmatic efforts.
  • Liaise with communication firms to support campaign design and implementation
  • Conduct training for staff and partners on communication, SBCC, gender-sensitive messaging, and advocacy.
  • Support the development of innovative communication approaches tailored to local contexts.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in communication and advocacy, preferably in youth development, women’s empowerment, and gender inclusion, both in development and humanitarian contexts.
  • Master’s degree, preferably in Social Sciences/Mass Communication or relevant discipline
  • Proven experience in public relations, networking, media, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing communication strategies and materials.
  • Strong documentation and writing skills in Bangla and English.
  • Experience working with consortiums/Joint ventures, government agencies, and development partners
