Ipas is a nonprofit organization working with partners around the world to advance reproductive justice by expanding access to abortion and contraception. We aim to build sustainable abortion ecosystems that address all factors impacting a person’s ability to access abortion—from individual health knowledge to social and community support, to a trained health workforce, to political leadership and supportive laws. In Bangladesh Ipas works since 2011 and from its inception in the country we work closely with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to ensure that women and girls can enhance their sexual and reproductive health via affordable, safe, respectful, and comprehensive abortion and contraceptive care. Ipas works throughout the country- in rural settings, in urban areas and in the humanitarian settings.
Ipas Bangladesh is seeking applications from hardworking, sincere, and cheerful individuals for the following position.
Position: Associate II-Program Coordination, UNFPA Humanitarian project, Ipas Bangladesh (Based in Bhasanchar) (1 Position)
Key Role
The Associate-II, Program Coordination will be the key focal persons for overall monitoring of the project activities running at Bhasanchar. S/he will provide necessary administrative support including scheduling and coordinating meetings and conferences, travel planning, and other tasks as per the approved budget. The associate will assist Bhasanchar team members from BAPSA (Ipas’s Implementing partner) by tracking activity deadlines and drafting or reviewing reports, program work plans, and other related documents as needed. S/he will be responsible for overall coordination and communication with local stakeholders including RRRC representatives, DGFP, DGHS representatives and other partner organizations working in Bhasanchar. Associate will provide support to project manager during budget creation and revision processes for Bhasanchar programs.He/she will work closely with BAPSA team to collect case stories/ success stories and evidence based documentation of the Bhasanchar program.
Key Responsibilities
Program monitoring:
Collaborate with and support the team members of Ipas’s implementing partner NGO (BAPSA) at Bhsanchar in executing project activities according to approved workplan.
Provide support and ensure the quality of the work of partners’ staff working at facility level and for SBCC activities at Bhasanchar.
Prepare monthly and quarterly plans for field visits to monitor both facility level and community level activities implemented by partners. Share field findings with supervisor, project team members and partners for further improvement as well as for future planning.
Support to conduction of periodic assessments of partners SBCC team and service providers teams’ knowledge about update messages on MR, PAC, contraceptive care and SGBV and SBCC interventions.
Coordination and communication
Assist Project manager to complete work plans as per approved work plan by UNFPA, creative briefs and delivers quarterly reports including reviewing reports and deliverables from partners and all other reporting requirements.
Coordinate with concerned personnel, UNFPA and other key stakeholders at Bhasanchar as need based for implementation of project activities.
Maintain local liaison to build cooperation and coordination with UNHCR, RRRC, CICs and local DGFP and DGHS to create supportive environment for Ipas’s SRH services at Bhasanchar.
Participate in internal meetings with the local team and in-country team to address project related issues and share lessons learned from the field, program achievements, new challenges, and future directions.
Assist Project Manager in preparing relevant project work plans, reports, budgets as per Bhasanchar context on a regular and need basis.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and provide support to staff of partner NGO in writing success stories and reports on project activities or interventions including examples of successes, challenges, lessons learned and recommendations.
Sharing project update, brief and validated report with Govt. stakeholders, such as- RRRC, DDFP, CS by consulting with project manager when required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum a bachelor’s or master’s degree in communication, public health, behavioural science, anthropology, social science or any other relevant field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in SBC program design, implementation, and monitoring
- 3+ years’ experience on public health communication, education, or SBC program
- Good writing and verbal communication skill in Bangla and English
- Understanding of interventions around the provision of medical abortions
- Must have working knowledge of conceptualizing, implementing, and monitoring of SBC initiatives.
- Experience in evidence generation, public health research, SBC program evaluation is preferred.
- Ability to travel in the field at least 40%
