Position Title: Safety & Security Officer

Department: Safety & Security

Overall responsible for: Under the general guidelines and supervision of the Security and Risk Manager or delegate and within the established InterContinental Hotels and Resorts and local hotel policies and procedures, responsible for maintaining all aspect of security and regularity within the hotel premises.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be conversant with the country’s security situation and be ready to react to the need of providing security assistance to the guests, colleagues and properties.
  • Maintain a good rapport with the members of the local agencies so as to be able to call for their assistance in case of emergency situation.
  • To fully comply with all Fire and Life Safety (FLS) Standards and the code of conduct policies of InterContinental Hotels Group
  • Responsible for monitoring all persons entering through staff and receiving area, issue contractor and visitor’s passes as appropriate for people performing works within the hotel premises
  • Responsible for monitoring all employees’ belongings while exiting the hotel premises.
  • To monitor incoming and outgoing items, follow-up with concerned departments for return of hotel property covered under outgoing passes.
  • To control all cars and vehicles of suppliers and visitors who are using the receiving area parking.
  • Prevent outsiders from passing through receiving area without having any business-related transactions with the hotel after business hours.
  • Responsible in maintaining safety and security in the parking area by reporting to Security and Risk Manager or the MOD if any suspicious activity, vehicles light on, key ignition, open windows, flat tires or accidents.
  • To direct and control traffic at main lobby entrance and advice drivers to leave after drop off.
  • To control and monitor the smooth flow of guests and members in the pool and beach area and prevent non-members or unauthorized person from entering the area.
  • To make random patrol within area of responsibility and challenge unauthorized person found in the restricted area.
  • To proactively prevent all FLS issues and report to the Security and Risk Manager and/or MOD
  • To protect the hotel of its assets and its reputation
  • To remove persona non grata PNG and persons causing threat to the hotel and its property
  • To be unbiased and neutral in order to judge and handle all incidents within hotels policies and procedures
  • To make a daily contribution to “Manage Risk” and to operate a “Safe Hotel”
  • To secure, guard and protect the Management/Colleagues Accommodation and the people living there from any security issues may they be internal or external
  • To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out other reasonable requests and responsibilities as assigned, including redeployment to alternative department / areas if required to meet business demands and guest service needs.
  • Any task as when required, not limited to.

Education

  • Bachelor Degree in management/business administration is required. Master’s Degree in management is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Communicates and liaises with customers via telephone and e-mail or by visiting them on regular basis
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to organize self and team work.
  • Good in communication.
  • Understanding of the hotel and hospitality business
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, and organizational abilities.
  • Good in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Strong Leadership

Experience:

  • 2 years relevant experience or an equivalent experience is required. Defense personnel in preferred with proven experience.

Age: 22 -30

Physical Features: Sound Health & energetic

Skills Required:

  • Good in stress management
  • Maintain database and prepare report effectively
  • Flexible with working hours and must be a team player
  • Multitasking skill
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Others: Need to be self-motivated and positive minded.
