Terms of Reference (TOR) for Employment:
SITE ENGINEER/ MANAGER

Objectives
The Engineer will part of the installing, commissioning team for establishing the processing plant on site and working together with all the requisite stakeholders and establishing and maintaining a long-term relationship with the community and the Municipality.

The Engineer will also be responsible for building and maintaining a strong and long-lasting culture of continuous improvement through training and actions throughout the operation facility. This position reports directly to the Technical Director.

The role will have regular other interfacing functions within the organization, working with the Environmental Consultant and keep regular updates environment management and relevant legal compliance through proper Adherence and Implementation of the plants standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and the aims and goals of the established plant.

2. Job Context

  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, start-up and operation of Waste-to-Energy Plant.
  • Knowledge, experience of establishing preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to lead maintenance and production team to improve performance by providing training.
  • Repairing and troubleshooting equipment to minimise breakdown time.
  • Train and guide technicians about personal safety of different mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Work on cost reduction and quality improvement for maintenance, equipment upgrading and modification.
  • Resolve day-to-day operation related mechanical problems.
  • Supervise overall plant operation and maintenance.
  • Necessary action against any breakdown of mechanical equipment.
  • Optimise production and quality of plant outputs and related cost.
  • Organise teamwork and ability to work in a team for smooth operation.
  • Control, supervision and take decision to ensure product quality.
  • Control and minimise costs for maximising product value.
  • Daily and weekly operation analysis report.
  • Manage all staff and labour.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to by management.
  • Liaise with key project partners.
  • Respond to project related activities as directed.

3. Job Responsibilities

  • Plan preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Work on various cost reduction and quality for smooth production
  • Work to improve project in terms of maintenance, equipment upgrading and modification.
  • Lead maintenance & operation team. Improve plant and team performance by providing staff training.
  • Repairing and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment to insure minimum breakdown time.
  • To insure spare parts identification accurately of different mechanical equipment.
  • To ensure daily and report, utility report, bran and fuel consumption report.
  • Work maintenance of small gas-boiler.
  • Advise how to increase production by maintain quality of product.
  • Work to make monthly production, reconciliation and utility report.
  • Conducting day to day plant operational activities.
  • Familiarise and operate PC control for ensuring efficient plant operation.
  • Assisting in development work for existing plant.
  • Monitoring production activities through maintaining excellent operation procedures and standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all aspects of health and safety (HSE).
  • Report immediately if any problems/failures arise that impact on the operation, production or organization and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager.
  • Documentation work.
  • Hazard and operability study.
  • Update the BOM (Plant inventory)
  • Set-up Preventative Maintenance Procedure
  • Update drawings (PID, Layout, Electrical, Mechanical)
  • Plant Modifications (Set-Up and Implementation)
  • Daily and Weekly Reports to Technical Director
  • Any other tasks which may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

4. Educational Requirements
Diploma or B.Sc degree in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Water Resources Engineering from any recognised and reputed University of Bangladesh or abroad.

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritise work.
  • Ability to work in AutoCAD.

4.1 Experience Requirements: 3 - 5 year(s)

4.2 Additional Requirements:

  • Be able to work on operational plant site, dealing with community waste for processing.
  • Understanding issues relating to WASH and climate change in national and global context.
  • 3 – 5 years demonstrated working experience in engineering field and/or development sector.
  • Proven experience of WASH facilities.
  • Excellent computer skill and strong analytical skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Admirable leadership, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • GOOD Written and verbal communication skills in BOTH - Bangla and English.

4.3 Job Location
Any Location in Bangladesh where the plant is to be established.
Visit to Dhaka head office as and when required.

4.4 Salary
Gross Monthly salary is BDT 55,000 - 70,000.
Negotiable for deserving candidate with higher credentials.
You will enjoy two festival bonus in a year.
Probation period shall be 6 (six) months.
