Name of position : Driver (Japanese Red Cross Society)
Position (02) : 01 for Dhaka & 01 for Cox’s Bazar
Duration of the contract : The initial contract will be given until March 2026 with three months’ Probation period. Extension depends on satisfactory performance.
Reporting to : Dhaka Driver will report to Country Representative (Japanese Red Cross Society) and Cox’s Bazar will report to Finance and Administration Manager (Japanese Red Cross Society).

The IFRC Office in Cox Bazar is the coordinating office for supporting the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society in their response to the Population Movement Operation in the area. The Logistics, Procurement and Fleet team supports Red Cross and Red Crescent personnel in the area in all matters pertaining to their logistics matters. This position is based in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh at the IFRC Population Movement Office. The role will work closely with the JRCS administration and management for delivery of logistics services with responsibility for Fleet activities.

Job Purpose
The Driver – under immediate supervision of the JRCS Admin and Logistics officer is responsible for driving the JRCS/IFRC vehicles and related tasks relating to JRCS/IFRC/BDRCS programmes and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Abide by IFRC security, Code of Conduct and other policy and guidelines all the time.
  • Always follow and Implement Federation standard and JRCS operating procedure while operating vehicle.
  • Ensure maintenance of vehicles to maximise fleet potentiality.
  • Ensure routine check-up & cleanliness of vehicle before starting. Also ensure that, vehicle is roadworthy before commencing any field trip/camp visits.
  • Always maintain accurate records of every trip, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents that occur. Also keep record of all types of servicing and maintenance history as per IFRC fleet policy.
  • Ensure the safety of himself/ herself, passengers, and others on the road. Also, they need to perform safety checks such as ensuring the seat belts and other safety features are working properly.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, traffic signals and road signs.
  • Follow the federation ascertained speed limit on the roads.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanour when interacting with delegates, office staff and colleagues.
  • Travel and support other area in Bangladesh based on the office needs
  • Support the delegation office to send document or any other material out of office.
  • Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualification:

Education:

  • Educational qualification: at least class 08 pass

Experience:

  • Having Bangladeshi valid driving license for at least 5 years’ experience.
  • Working for a humanitarian/non-profit-making organization is preferable.
  • Experience of working with the Red Cross / Red Crescent movement is preferable.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent driving skills including 4X4 handling skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of the team.
  • Exceptional level of patience and able to work long hours.
  • Basic mechanical skills will add extra preference.
  • Sensitive to cultural, religious, political and regional issues.
  • Medium/Heavy vehicle license will get preference
  • Good mental and physical health.
  • Ability to maintain accurate log records.
  • Good time keeping.
  • Languages: Fluency in Bangla and Basic communication in English is highly preferable.

Salary Range: As per IFRC staff regulation.
