TITLE: Research Analyst (Consultant)
LOCATION: Dhaka, Bangladesh
PAY GRADE: 70,000 - 90,000 BDT per month (depending on experience and proficiency)
REPORTS TO: Dr. Mehrab Bakhtiar, Research Fellow and Deputy Chief of Party, IFPRI-BANGLADESH
Job Summary
International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) Bangladesh seeks a qualified candidate to serve as a Research Analyst (Consultant). This position is a one-year, renewable appointment based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The successful candidate will support senior research staff of IFPRI-Bangladesh. Specific areas of work include assisting in the implementation of surveys/experiments (RCTs), leading collaborations with potential implementing partners and cleaning/analyzing data. Proficiency in STATA is a must. Experience with higher level programming languages and data visualization is a strong plus. Interested applicants must be authorized to work in Bangladesh. The Research Analyst should have the desire to apply for higher education (Master's/PhD) in the coming years and will receive close mentorship during his/her time at IFPRI to develop a strong research profile. There will be opportunities for co-authoring at least one research paper.
Essential Duties:
Specific Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with survey design and development of survey instruments.
- Assist with implementing surveys/experiments (RCTs/lab-in-the-field experiments)
- Assist with collaborations with potential implementing partners
- Analyze quantitative primary data collected through surveys and secondary data from various sources.
- Travel extensively to collect data and supervise surveys in Bangladesh.
- Prepare tables and graphs and assist with writing journal articles, discussion papers, project research reports, policy briefs, and blogs for dissemination.
- Perform literature reviews, summaries, and annotated bibliographies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of Bachelor's degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Public Policy, Nutrition, Statistics, Sociology, Computer Science, or a closely related field, although a Master's degree and/or one or more years of relevant experience will be preferred
- Skilled in programming in STATA, and in managing household databases.
- Experience with survey/experiments implementation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with issues related to poverty, economic growth, food security, social protection, health, nutrition, gender, and agricultural and rural development in Bangladesh.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task as needed, consistently meet deadlines, and manage time well.
