Partnership for Renewable Energy Market Development in Ecologically Critical Areas (ECAs) with RE Technology Providers and Financial Service Providers

Bangladesh’s Ecologically Critical Areas (ECAs), such as the Sundarbans and Hakaluki Haor, are home to unique biodiversity and millions of people whose livelihoods are threatened by climate change impacts, including salinity, cyclones, and flooding. To address these challenges, iDE Bangladesh, under the UK-FCDO-funded NABAPALLAB project, is working to develop resilient, inclusive renewable energy (RE) markets that enable rural communities to access clean, income-generating energy solutions.

We invite Private Sector Companies and Financial Institutions to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to partner with NABAPALLAB in:

  • Exploring ECA market opportunities for RE technologies.
  • Piloting and demonstrating livelihood-linked RE solutions.
  • Scaling commercially viable business models for rural Bangladesh.
  • Financial solutions for promoting RE technologies/Products in the ECA area

Eligible Renewable Energy Technologies:

Improved Cooking Solution (ICS), Biodigesters, Solar Irrigation Pumps, Solar Aerators, Solar Mini Chillers, Solar Charging Stations, Solar Agro-Machines, and any other innovative RE solutions relevant to ECA livelihoods.

Who Can Apply:

A. Private companies with proven or emerging RE solutions (including technology/product, service, capacity building in rural, ecologically critical areas, and a commitment to quality, inclusion, and after-sales service) and

B. Financial Service Providers (Bank, NBFIs, and MFIs) with rural SME-friendly smart financial products/installment plans, green financing, nano financing, rural finance distribution network/Agent banking.

Proposal Requirements:

Interested firms should submit a company profile, concept note, market assessment plan, pilot & scale-up strategy, financial proposal, and evidence of previous work. Partners should outline activities, budgets, roles, and support expected from iDE, with clear attention to the 4E Principles, i.e., Economy, Efficiency, Effectiveness, Equity, to ensure Value for Money.

Submission Deadline: Rolling, EOI period remains open until iDE finds a sufficient number of suitable private sector partners.
