iDE Bangladesh is looking for an experienced and skilled professional for the role of Technical Specialist- Clean Energy Sector Development under the CCSU Bangladesh Project. The overall objective of the CCSU project is to promote the sales and utilization of 51,000 eCook Cookstoves in Bangladesh through an inclusive business model, which will result in 100,000 tCO2-equivalent GHG emissions reduction per year and improve the livelihoods of 2,000 women and youth engaged in the Clean Energy Technology (CET) sector. This position holder will be responsible for providing technical support to the CCSU project team and the Project Manager for designing and piloting interventions on new technology and innovation in the clean energy sector. She/He will also design, plan and execute various research on various Renewable Energy Technologies. He will be a part of the Dhaka Project Team and report to the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Key Responsibilities as the TS - Clean Energy Sector Development includes, but are not limited to, the descriptions below.

Technical Documentation, Business and , Partnership  Development for CET Sector
  • Should demonstrate strong command and technical knowledge in renewable energy, clean cooking, and climate change technologies, related in/national policies and contemporary issues.
  • Support the CCSU Project team to develop and review technical documents, donor reporting, market study and national electric cooking roadmap development initiatives.
  • Develop and implement partnership, entrepreneurship, and clean energy sector development strategies to expand iDE's presence in the clean energy technology (CET) markets.
  • Conduct research on renewable energy technologies and compile findings to support project objectives and entrepreneurship development initiatives.
  • Identify potential funding opportunities from governmental agencies, foundations, and private sector partners to scale up clean cooking and renewable energy initiatives.
  • Lead the development and writing of high-quality project reports, proposals, and concept notes to scale up CCSU Project initiatives.
  • Collaborate with program teams to align proposals with strategic goals and project needs.
  • Develop innovative project ideas and strategies to enhance iDE’s CET sector impact.
  • Document and coordinate efforts with various technical stakeholders, academicians, and researchers.
  • Draft agreements, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and confidential letters to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations, collaborating with team members to convey fundraising objectives and outcomes.
  • Provide support to the Programme and Business Development team by monitoring routine data management, conducting database development, validation checks, and reviews.
  • Actively participate in meetings, documenting processes and outcomes related to fundraising activities in energy, climate, and climate-sensitive regenerative agriculture.
  • Contribute to policy development, ensuring alignment with fundraising objectives.
  • Demonstrate strong writing skills for developing project proposals, including research, writing, and editing.
  • Organize and participate in technical discussions, meetings, and workshops

Research
  • Develop, design and conduct new research on renewable energy and clean cooking, including literature review, methodology, planning, and reporting.
  • Identify new ideas from research findings to scale up the CET and CCSU project initiatives and prepare quality articles and paper publications for reputed national and international journals.
  • Identify the key learning from different sources and the project implementation process

Planning and Strategy Development
  • Enhance sectoral networking, explore online platforms, and establish clean energy sector development priorities on a quarterly, monthly, and weekly basis in collaboration with the CCSU project team and iDE’s senior management team.
  • Maintain a structured routine for CET and CCSU project scale-up initiatives, including screening relevant opportunities, intelligence gathering, sharing insights internally, and initiating proposal, partnership, and consortium development. Gather relevant information in Google Drive and provide monthly and quarterly progress reports to PM, CCSU.
  • Conduct regular documentation of technology adoption, key requirements and areas of value addition with the support of Technical and Field Teams

Networking, Partnership Building and Managing Relationships
  • Lead communication, partnership and building relationships with wider donors such as government, multilateral, bilateral institutions, private organizations and other relevant donors.
  • Enhance networking and build associations with National and International like-minded organizations.
  • Identify, communicate, negotiate, and maintain relationships with partners, associated consultants and technical experts.

Setting the tone
  • Actively and openly engage with the Project Manager and Technical Specialists to strengthen Project implementation activities pertaining to Partners and market actors.
  • Proactively provide technical solutions & explanations to the project team for resolving field challenges, communicating with PM/TS and project field team.

Skills and Experience:

A successful TS-Clean Energy Sector Development will have the following skills and experience and will be comfortable with the following conditions.

Education
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in EEE, Renewable Energy, Energy Management, Engineering, or other related disciplines.

Work Experience
  • A minimum of four- five years of substantial experience in development work, business development, and policy in the energy/climate sector, particularly within the context of international development cooperation in Bangladesh.
  • Relevant technical expertise with at least five successful project proposal writings in energy, PURE, climate, regenerative agriculture, or related sectors.
  • Strong leadership skills, proven experience in partnership development, and a deep understanding of management principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in clean energy technology sector development, clean cooking, technology adoption, and promotion.
  • Extensive exposure to and strong networking within the renewable energy and clean cooking sectors, with opportunities to build a professional network.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, with strong proficiency in reporting, facilitation, and presentation.
  • Solid knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications and/or Google Workspace tools.
