Manager, Environment & Social Safeguard: 01 Post

A. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or other relevant discipline from a recognized university with minimum CGPA of 3.00;
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Climate Change, or related field will be considered an added advantage;
  • Minimum 5 (five) years of work experience in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) preparation, Environmental and Social Due Diligennce (ESDD) report preparation, implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) of infrastructure or renewable energy projects;
  • Strong knowledge on major environmental rules and regulations of Bangladesh i.e. Environment Conservation Rules 2023;
  • Strong familiarity on EHS standards of development partners i.e. ADB, AIIB, AFD, JICA, KfW and World Bank etc;
  • Good written and oral communication skills in Bengali and English as well as competence in Microsoft Package;
  • Some practical work experience, relevant training and skills in Geographic Information System (GIS) would be considered as added advantage.

B. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Have clear understanding about Environmental and Social Safeguard Framework (ESSF) of IDCOL;
  • Participate in discussion with business units about the scope of proposed projects and communicate E&S requirements from the project;
  • Support in E&S screening and categorization of projects by following requirements of IDCOL ESSF, statutory regulatory bodies and development partners;
  • Support in assessment of environmental impact is consistent with the statutory requirement as well as standard of respective development partners;
  • Review ESIA/ESDD/ESMP reports submitted by project proponents and ensure compliance with applicable safeguard requirements;
  • Monitor the implementation of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) as per the ESIA and Corrective Action Plans (CAP);
  • Visit project sites periodically to understand EHS related  risks and support in designing appropriate mitigation strategies;
  • Prepare monitoring reports based on site visit and suggest corrective actions on observed non-compliances found during site visit;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.

C. Remuneration Package

BDT 151,200 + Festival Bonus + LFA + Gratuity + other benefits as per company policy
