The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

THE PURPOSE

The First Aid (FA) Field Officer contributes to implementing, running, and monitoring the first-aid programme activities in collaboration with the first-aid team. These activities are performed according to the objective set out during the delegation's annual planning process (Planning for Result) for ICRC priority areas in CHT, Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka, and other parts of the country. 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates and implements first aid programs, conducts risk assessment & identifies mitigation measures.
  • Prepares correspondence, training reports and contents, meeting minutes and ensures proper recording of reports.
  • Conducts field assessment, regular field visits and maintains communication with local population/ victims/ beneficiaries.
  • Manages records, ensures data management and prepares analytical reports.
  • Supports the contextualization and implementation of materials, taking into consideration the local culture, level of resilience, health care system, etc.
  • Manages logistical support for training programs, and in close collaboration with logistics ensures inventory of training materials.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the relevant field.
  • Degree in medicine
  • Minimum graduation in any discipline.
  • Qualification as a first-aid trainer will be considered as a strong asset.
  • Experienced in conducting training & FA materials & equipment will be considered as a strong asset.
  • Critical analysis and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent report writing and computer skills.
