Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs some 20,000 people in 100 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments and from national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The Health Field Officer (HFO) contributes to the internal and external coordination of health programmes under the supervision of the Physical Rehabilitation Program (PRP) Manager and in cooperation of health and PRP team, according to the objectives set out in the delegation's annual planning (Planning for Results) for all Areas of Responsibilities (AoRs). Moreover, he/she should support the PRP Manager in the collection, organization and analysis of all information related to health activities and contextual information, related to ICRC health programs.
Main Responsibilities:
- To support the PRP Manager in the oversight of the planning, implementation, and monitoring of ICRC Health projects: First Aid & Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (FA&PHEC), Health Care in Detention (HCD) and PRP.
- Responsible for ICRC Health Care in Danger initiative, health networking, leading and health mapping exercise.
- Supports PRP Manager in the collection, organization and analysis of all information related to health activities and contextual information, related to ICRC health programs.
- Supports the PRP Manager in the preparation of written narrative reporting in relation to the health program implementation and analysis.
- Executes administrative and office work related to the health programs when needed.
- Supports the PRP Manager with political, social, cultural, and religious contextual information for the interpretation and analysis of data and information related to ICRC Health activities.
- Supports the PRP Manager by contributing to the analysis of the health programs and provides advice for the design of new strategies and activities.
- Supports the PRP Manager by providing input or drafting ICRC internal planning: Annual Planning for Results (PfR) exercise, budget preparation, adapting strategies and phase out of the programs
- Collect, summarize, edit, and develop the data/information for the reports, newsletters, and other relevant documents
- Submits timely reports for Field Trips, Assessments, Minutes of Meetings, Monitoring for Result (MfR), Site Reports, Weekly reports, etc.
- Supports the PRP Manager by compiling plans, forecast of budget and implementation of all health programmes
- Responsible for filing health program documents and organising team space documents.
Educational Requirements:
Professional requirements:
- 5 years of total work experience in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, ortho-prosthetist, medicine, or nursing with minimum 2 years’ experience in the humanitarian sector.
- Good connections with local health authorities or groups of interest for the ICRC
- Licence to practice in his/her own country
- Fluent written and spoken command of the local working language as well as English
- Very good computer skills (i.e Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
