Vacancy Notice

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict & armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of conflict. As an independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs around 18,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments, national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The ICRC in Cox’s Bazar Office is now looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated person for the following position:

Position : Cashier
Department : Finance & Administration
Number of Position : One (01)
Location : Cox’s Bazar
Starting date : As soon as possible
Contract Type : Contractual (6 Months) with possibility to extend

The Cashier will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Finance and Administration Manager in the ICRC’s Office in Cox's Bazar.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Handles the delegation's cash disbursements and payments, including salaries and working advances.
  • Prepares invoices for payment (by cash, cheque or bank transfer).
  • Carries out daily cash count and reconciliation.
  • Participates in cash-flow management, ensuring sufficient liquidity. Handles cash replenishment from the bank.
  • Files and reports on relevant documents.
  • Ensures respect for financial procedures and guidelines and explains them to "clients".

Invoice Management

  • Checks that validity, calculations and required approvals are granted prior paying.
  • Checks all supporting documents submitted and report any doubtful invoice to Finance Manager
  • Flag to finance responsible for any doubt/suspicious issue.

Cash Management

  • Hands over and supervises petty cash in accordance with the division of responsibilities
  • Makes cash payments on the basis of signed documents
  • Pays out and closes working advances in accordance with current procedures
  • Preparing / making cash transfers
  • Makes daily check of petty cash with the Accountant / Finance Responsible / F&A Manager
  • Reports any cash difference prior daily control
  • In charge of bank cash withdrawals and payments
  • Supply departments with the necessary information to enable the preparation of accounting documents
  • Register daily cash count in the accounting system

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s in Accounting and Professional Diploma

Professional requirements:

  • 2 years of work experience in a similar field
  • Languages: Excellent fluency in spoken and written English & fluency in local language (Bangla, Chittagonian)
  • Computer skills: Excellent and proven command of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Other skills: Evaluation, Analysis, and Results-Based Management.
