The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of conflict. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs around 12,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from Governments, National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The ICRC Dhaka delegation is now looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated person for the following position:

Position : Logistician
Department : Logistics
Location : Dhaka

Contract Type : Open Ended Contract

Under the supervision of Logistics Country Manager, Logistician provides technical and operational support in the areas of purchasing, warehousing, stock management, import-export and statistics, in accordance with the ICRC’s logistics standards and local legislation.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements, supervises & co-ordinates logistics team activities & all logistics staffs to ensure compliance & accordance with the logistics strategy for the country and financial procedures.
  • Plans & manages supply-chain requests and ensures they are treated & executed in a timely fashion following the ICRC procedures.
  • Represent logistics departments in the follow up of technical files in different ministries.
  • Plans and oversees procurement activities (purchaser market analysis, purchase orders, supplier files, sourcing, etc.)
  • Monitors store activities to ensure proper replenishment of the warehouse and ensures adapted hygiene and warehousing standard levels are constantly applied.
  • Follows up & ensures all documents & agreements (Transport and Freight forwarding agreements, import export documents) are up to date & properly communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensures all filings are up to date and archived as per ICRC retention schedule and responses to feedbacks from region.
  • Ensures all finance related activities are in accordance with ICRC policy and disseminated in timely and accurate way.
  • Provides information (i.e: purchase) to relevant stakeholders and ensure accurate & timely settlement of working advances.
  • Ensures co-ordination & supervision of logistics team (i.e: updated JD, performance review, training needs assessment and development activities) & build team spirit.
  • Reports to local & regional management & country logistics manager on time to time basis to ensure smooth flow of information, to take technical advisory & irregularity.

Educational requirements:

  • Graduation in any discipline.
  • Additional certification on logistics/supply chain will be considered as an asset.
  • Fluent command of English and computer literacy along with usage of specialized software.

Professional requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience preferably in commercial, military or humanitarian logistics, including 2 years management experience.
  • Experience in ICRC or UN body will be considered as an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of the assigned geographic area
  • Excellent computer skill along with knowledge and practical experience of using specialized softwares.
