The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of conflict. As an independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs around 12,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from Governments, National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The ICRC Dhaka Delegation is now looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated person for the following position:

Position : Generalist Field Officer
Department : Communication
Location : Cox´s Bazar
Starting date : As soon as possible
Contract Type : Contractual (1 Year)

The Generalist Field Officer will act as the primary point of contact between the beneficiaries and the ICRC. He/She will receive questions, complaints and comments from callers from around the country and also share information on ICRC programs and criteria for eligibility with callers & will occasionally also carry out small surveys on behalf of the ICRC.


  • Responds to calls, evaluates/assesses further action requirement and record call details in accordance with ICRC´s activities in Bangladesh.
  • Follows up raised issues/feedbacks/complaints and/or refers to concerned department for further action, supports program teams to communicate progress of raised issues/complaints/feedbacks.
  • Flags & reports any violation of ICRC principles/values.
  • Analyse & identify more efficient ways to reach the voice of vulnerable groups.
  • Regular reporting as & when necessary.

Educational requirements:

  • Graduate in any discipline
  • Fluent command of English and computer literacy. Knowledge of Rohingya language will get added advantage.

Professional requirements:

  • 2 to 3 years of total work experience in relevant field in relevant industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of the assigned geographic area

  • Ability to empathize to people who are in vulnerable situation in the country.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, respecting the established framework.
  • Ability to define priorities.
