The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of war. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs around 18,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments, national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The ICRC in Cox’s Bazar Office is now looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated person for the following position:

Position : Adviser to the Head of Office

Contract Type : Full time Open Ended Contract

Reporting to the Head of Sub- Delegation, the incumbent will be working in a cross functional capacity with multiple departments of the sub structure in support to programs and activities implemented in competence. Major responsibilities include but do not limit to;


  • Analyses and maps stakeholders relevant to the ICRC in the Cox’s Bazar
  • Develops a broad network of contacts and build relationship with authorities (civil and law enforcement authorities), community leaders, civil society representatives and religious circles etc.
  • Builds awareness and acceptance about the ICRC among with interlocutors and stakeholders
  • Engages proactively with ICRC colleagues from different departments and facilitates ICRC programs and activities Tailors and supports the organization of events for interlocutors and stakeholders
  • Participates to field trips, to internal and external meetings, and reports internally orally and by writing
  • Monitors and shares relevant information and analysis on the humanitarian, environment socio-economic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRC
  • Inquiries, reviews and reports on specific questions of interest for the ICRC
  • Participates in security monitoring and analysis
  • Relates with networking and security team based in the delegation
  • Registers data and shares information related to networking, respecting confidentiality and using relevant software and database
  • Interprets or translates accurately from English to National language and vice versa as required.

Educational Requirements

  • Graduation from a reputed College/University with degree in a relevant field such as Humanities
  • Good command of English (written and spoken) & fluent level of local language (Bangla, Chittagonian)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Professional requirements:

  • Minimum 05 years of proven professional experience in similar position in development sectors

  • Good communication, writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, respecting the established framework
  • Able to define priorities
  • Able to adapt to and work in team in a multicultural environment
