Programme Assistant (Adv#251/2023)

The Alliance for Combating TB in Bangladesh activity is working to establish a dynamic, strategic, and fresh approach to accelerate Bangladesh’s fight against TB. The solutions will be aimed at creating an environment aligned with the universal health coverage (UHC) vision and focused on defined priority areas – increased TB detection, decentralized DR-TB management, improving detection and management of child TB, expanded prevention, and others. 

The Programme Assistant will report to the Assistant Programme Manager. The position holder will be responsible for coordinating and implementing of the ACTB activity at field level. S/he will be responsible for:

  • Representing the ACTB activity at the district level and working to build rapport with all the stakeholders in the assigned division;
  •  Assist in developing programme management plan, providing training to field staff on project implementation, supporting in team building and initiating activities according to the plan;
  • Monitor and supervise daily field activities, monitor screening quality of field attendants (FA), support the FAs at every aspect of their activity in conducting active case finding for TB;
  • Conduct contact investigation of assigned DR-TB and DS-TB cases;
  • Maintain liaison with respective facility physicians, Govt. Officials, NTP authority, and relevant stakeholders within the designated area ;
  • Coordinate with the staff of respective NGOs/GoB/UN organization at the designated area;
  • Receive required programme materials and logistics for training and field operation from head office and distribute accordingly;
  • Share findings with the Programme Officer (PO), Assistant Programme Manager (APM), and other senior members of the team, as appropriate and act as per the suggestion/feedback provided;
  • Provide support to the PO and APM in assessing data quality and addressing errors;
  • Collaborate with monitoring, evaluation, and learning team to support the implementation of MEL plan;
  • Follow any other instructions of the supervisor for better implementation of the ACTB activities.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor degree in any discipline
  • 3 years of working experience in the field implementation of development programs. Experience with the implementation of TB program activities will be an added advantage
  • Candidates from the Chattogram Division (Cox’sbazar and Chattogram Hill Tract districts), Khulna Division and Barishal Division are encouraged to apply

Location: Any districts of Chattogram, Barishal and Khulna Division.

Number of Positions: Approximate 30

Contract Type and duration:

  • Fixed Term Agreement; duration will be 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

  • Annual Tk. 4,30,410/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits;
  • 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
