Senior Statistical Officer (Adv#146/2023)

The primary objective of the project which is under Programme for Emerging Infection is to strengthen Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) activities across different implementing sites, including areas with full HDSS implementations and areas using sampling strategies which will be continue at least 3 years. In addition, the project will provide technical assistance to other sites such as data collection, data quality, meeting operations, scientific and informatics competencies, and ongoing methodological support for HDSS activities.

The Senior Statistical Officer will report to the Senior Research Investigator and will be directly involved in prepare project reports, analytical tables, graphs and presentations for manuscript.

The specific areas of responsibilities include:

Organize and plan routine statistical data processing and supervise the data management team;
Apply statistical methods which include: Regression/prediction/survival analysis, trend test, simple/logistic/multivariable regression, linear /mixed models, and structural equation modeling, risk factor etc, to carry out appropriate statistical analysis in relation to Demographic Surveillance System, cross-sectional studies etc.
Perform statistical quality checks on survey data, process and analyze survey data and propose estimate recommendations.
Design to ensure data validity and reliability; Ability to clarify operational definitions of the analysis variables and statistical analysis results.
Ability to carry out data curing logically, develop cleaned and matched data files, perform consistency checks according to supervisor’s instructions and coordinate with data management and scientific staffs in order to ensure smooth data processing, management and analysis for research.
Develop program error detecting tools for identifying missing/wrong data and provide necessary error list to the person concerned in order to establish a strong data management system.
Provide necessary support to the data management team for any inconsistencies in records/ID correction as and when required;
Prepare different types of reports, power point presentations, and documentation.
Analyze and conduct statistical / mathematical modeling (as mentioned above) on the research data;
Resolve queries and issues related to statistical analysis in order to prepare high quality manuscripts and reports by the research team.
Work with Data Management Team closely to keep and improve the performance of the team;
Organize review meetings in order to maintain perfect data-flow system.

Required qualification and experience:

Masters of Science in Statistics / Applied Statistics/ Biostatistics from a reputed university with good academic records;
Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis; Candidates who have publications in international peer-reviewed journals will be given preference;
Statistical programming languages including STATA, R and SPSS;
Statistical approaches used in public health research, including study design, sampling design, regression analysis;
Must have knowledge in handing Demographic Surveillance Data
Must have excellent communication skill and can work in a group
Have knowledge in developing Dashboard

Location: Dhaka

Contract Type and duration:

Fixed Term Contract; duration will be for 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

Annual Tk. 866,060/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits.
14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
