The Hunger Project-Bangladesh (THP-BD) is a highly-regarded, the largest volunteer-based development organization in the country, with over 250,000 volunteers, implementing strategies of gender-focused community-led development across the country since 1991 to create hunger and poverty free self-reliant Bangladesh. The Hunger Project empowers millions of women and men, youth leaders, local elected representatives, CSO to end their own hunger.

Project Summary:
THP-BD is implementing a five-year long project through a consortium entitled “Multi-Stakeholder Initiative for Peace and Stability” (MIPS) focusing on preventing and mitigating ethnic, religious, and political violence funded by FCDO. MIPS builds on the success of the current PAVE programme described here: ttps://en.thpbd.org/preventing-violence/This is being implemented by creating multi-party platform consisting of political, civil society and religious leaders to promote peace and harmony in 80 Upazilas under 31 districts of Bangladesh. It engages various stakeholders, including the women and youth to enhance their knowledge skills to prevent and mitigate conflicts in their communities. The Project is started in 1st March 2023
Position Summary:
The M&E, Research and KM Officer will assist the M&E, Research and KM Expert in developing and implementing M&E tools and overall plans for the project, and to contribute to ensuring quality research and learning in support of a monthly and annual adaptive management process. The personnel will work with the guidance of the M&E, Research and KM Expert and will contribute to the tasks related to data analysis. S/he will collect data through need assessment, surveys, FGD, case studies and evaluation of the project to ensure its quality. S/he will also engage with the M&E, Research and KM Expert for writing various reports and documenting progress. S/he will also be required to collect necessary information about the stakeholders’ recommendations for the Project and the contextual changes on the ground to support the Project Director in making the Project to be adaptive with appropriate interventions and implementation strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to preparing M&E, Research and Knowledge Management plan, and work together with the M&E, Research and Knowledge Management Expert to contribute effectively to achieving Project goal.
- Assisting M&E, Research and Knowledge Management Expert in designing and conducting various surveys, research and assessments.
- Maintain a database of group members, profiles and MIS.
- Collect data from the field about the progress, deviations, and results of the Project interventions.
- Document case stories, lessons learned, and best practices and support the Knowledge Management Process of the Project.
- Work with the M&E, Research and Knowledge Management Expert to conduct training and other capacity-building events as necessary for the Programme staff and other stakeholders on M&E, Research and KM.
- Assist M&E, Research, and Knowledge Management Expert to prepare instant reports applying appropriate methods just after the occurrence of any political, communal, and ethnic violence.
- Collect necessary information about the stakeholders’ recommendations for the Project and the contextual changes on the ground to support the Project Director in making the Project to be adaptive with appropriate interventions and implementation strategies.
- Manage super functional working relationships with the stakeholders and improve the effectiveness for achieving goal and outcomes.
- Contribute to prepare presentation, Project brief and other necessary materials including various communication materials incorporating violence-related fact and figures.
- Any other tasks as assigned by the line manager for achieving goal.
Requirement for the position:
Educational Qualification:
Master's degree in Statistics or any other discipline related to Social Science.
Excellent command of English and Bangla (both verbal and written) is necessary.
Other Qualifications and Experiences:
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in the development sector of Bangladesh through National/ international NGOs with a particular focus on M&E and Research on governance issues.
- Solid working experience in Knowledge Management (KM).
- Sound knowledge in political, communal, and ethnic violence in Bangladesh.
- Solid working experience with the Multi-stakeholder Platforms for governance and reforms.
- A socially active person having good networking skills.
- Challenge taker and meet the deadlines.
- Expert level competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Work condition:
Office based Job- 50% and Field job/travel- 50%
Compensation:
Only gross salary commensurate with experience and Bangladesh market standard. No other financial/non-financial benefits.
