Organizational Profile

The Hunger Project (THP) is a global, strategic organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. The Hunger Project in Bangladesh was founded in 1991 to foment a volunteer-based movement for overcoming hunger and poverty sustainably. THP in Bangladesh is currently the largest volunteer-based organization in the country, with over 150,000 volunteers working toward self-reliance.

In Africa, Asia and Latin America, The Hunger Project empowers millions of women and men to end their own hunger. The Hunger Project has pioneered low-cost, bottom-up, gender-focused strategies in each region where hunger persists. These strategies mobilize clusters of rural villages to create and run their own programs that achieve lasting progress in health, education, nutrition and family income.

Multi-stakeholder Initiative for Peace and Stability (MIPS), is a five-year long Programme of THP. The Programme is funded by FCDO. The Programme will primarily contribute to defuse political, communal and ethnic violence. The Programme activities also relate to engage local peace volunteers and peace groups in violence prevention and conflict resolution, as well as ensure the participation of women and youth and their representation in governance structures at local level, including in CHT. The Programme will also contribute to improve political and civic space with a more collaborative and tolerant politics at local level.   


Job Summary

The Field Accountant will be responsible for managing regional office’s financial management including but not limited to preparing budget in collaboration with Area Coordinator and Filed Coordinator, preparing periodical financial report, variance report and other necessary reports, assisting to the Grants, Finance and Compliance Manager and Finance Officer to comply all compliances including back donor, government and THP, ensuring fund follow and cash and bank management, ensuring all sorts of procurement and administrative work for regional office adhering with policy and procedures. S/he will work closely with Grants, Finance and Compliance Manager and Finance Officer to ensure all financial management and compliance management at regional office.  S/he will be assisting all sorts of audit team including THP internal audit, external audit and back donor audit.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Grants, Finance and Compliance Manager in preparing quarterly financial forecasting providing accurate data on timely basis.  
  • Maintaining all sorts of books of accounts but not limited to cash book, general ledger, sub-ledger, all necessary register including assets register and stock register, cheque issue register, petty cash register as per accounting principles.
  • Preparing vouchers including bank debit and credit voucher, cash debit and credit voucher, journal voucher and so on.
  • Preparing periodical financial reports in excel with bank reconciliation statement and variance report
  • Deducting VAT and Tax in source as per government law and depositing to bank in the stipulated time.
  • Keeping all records properly
  • Maintaining proper documentation and confidentiality
  • Preparing monthly salary statement complaining tax law and transferring through bank
  • Prepare realistic budget of Area Office in collaboration with Areas Coordinator and Field Coordinator and share with Grants, Finance and Compliance Manager.
  • Prepare accurate monthly / quarterly fund request for areas office of MIPS project and send to Dhaka office
  • Provide necessary support to Area Coordinator and Filed Coordinator to implement the MIPS project in managing event management.
  • Managing cash and bank management including banking i.e., depositing cheque and cash, and withdrawing cash from bank and presenting cheque to bank.
  • Ensuring security during cash transaction among bank, vendors and THP area office.
  • Advance management with MIPS project staff and others.
  • Check bills, vouchers and take necessary actions for payment maintaining proper compliances.  
  • Procuring goods and services maintaining necessary compliances. 
  • Participating in training, meeting and workshop as and when necessary.
  • Assisting to internal and external audit at area office and take necessary measures overcome the identified audit observations.
  • Managing super functional working relationship with the Programme team and stakeholders for achieving Programme goal.   
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the line manager for achieving Programme goal.

Requirement for the position

Educational Qualification.

  • Master in Accounting.
  • Good command over English and Bangla both verbal and written is necessary. 

Other Qualification and Experiences

  • Minimum 3 years’ working experiences in the financial management and internal and external audit sector including but not limited to accounting, budgeting, maintaining books of account, financial reporting, procurements, office management in NGOs, private sectors, government institutions.
  • Experience of processing bills, vouchers and payments maintaining organizational compliances.
  • Hard working, challenge taker and meeting deadline.
  • Competency in any accounting software preferably QuickBooks, and in Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Experience in banking and cash management.

Based in reginal office (Khulna, Chattagram, Rajshahi, Rangpur,Jashore, Sylhet, Borisal, Mymensingh) We encourage local eligible applicants to apply for this position.


Compensation:  Maximum BDT 35,000 per moth including all benefits.
