The Hunger Project Bangladesh:

The Hunger Project-Bangladesh (THP-BD) is a highly-regarded, the largest volunteer-based development organization in the country, with over 250,000 volunteers, implementing strategies of gender-focused community-led development across the country since 1991 to create hunger and poverty free self-reliant Bangladesh. The Hunger Project empowers millions of women and men, youth leaders, local elected representatives, CSO to end their own hunger.

Summary Role of the Position:

The Director of Program plays a pivotal role in driving the organization mission to foster sustainable development and community empowerment. This senior leadership position entails strategic planning and program design, proper implementation of programs, lead and manage program team, nursing various networks, financial compliances and active stakeholder engagement and operation of 10 regional and sub-regional offices. The Program Director will liaise with donors, provide inputs to all project proposal, maintain high standard of stewardship in resource mobilization, financial integrity, accountability, and donor compliance with the relevant Financial Policies. The PD will also ensure that programs are innovative, impactful, and aligned with the organization’s vision, mission & goals.

Details Duties and responsibilities:
  
Strategic Guidance, Program Development and Planning

  • Gives strategic direction to the overall program across the working area of the organization and ensure it is in sync with organizational vision, mission, goals and priorities.
  • Ensure that THP-BD’s legacy of community led approach is maintained and the program for achieving SDGs is volunteer based.
  • Identify potential risks associated with program implementation and develop mitigation strategies.

Implementation and Oversight

  • Develop detailed work plans and schedules for program implementation.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to program staff and ensure clear communication of expectations.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting professional development and accountability.
  • Implement quality control mechanisms to ensure programs are delivered to the highest standards.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor program activities and provide support and guideline.

Partnerships, Network and Stakeholder Engagement and Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements to ensure mutual benefit.
  • Engage in policy dialogue and influence policy changes that support program goals.

Fundraising, Resource Mobilization

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure diverse funding sources
  • Give input to development of high-quality funding proposals and grant applications.

Donors & Partners Management and Reporting

  • Prepare detailed reports for donors and partners timely.
  • Maintain positive relationships with donors, partners, stakeholders through regular updates and transparent communication.
  • Any other task assigned by management

   Education Qualification (Minimum)

  • Master’s degree in social sciences or related fields from a reputed University.
  • Excellent commend over in Bangla and English languages both verbal and written.

Work Experience (Minimum needed)

  • Minimum Required: about 2-3 years experiences in the role of director position in the reputed national/international development organization and about 10 years in another senior management role.

Specialized Knowledge Needed for Job Performance

  • Must be willing to learn from the local people and not bring traditional NGO mindset of service delivery. THP-Bangladesh is not a traditional NGO. It is a unique volunteer-based, community led organization. The person must be committed to this fundamental core of our work. Strong knowledge of community led development approach.
  • Ability to inspire and enlist the committed participation of volunteers from civil society and political actors, including women, youth, and religious leaders elected representatives.
  • Deep understanding of Bangladesh’s socio-economics dynamics.
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equity and bottom-up approaches to development.

Others Skills

  • Sound judgment, able to troubleshoot problems, come up with creative solutions.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills; ability to work with colleagues and partners nationally and internationally.
  • Resourceful self-starter, result-oriented with ability to independently multi-task and prioritize.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, with expertise in Excel.
  • Willing to work in a varying schedule including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
