We are currently seeking Nutrition Officer based in Sunamganj and Habiganj for the “Transforming Lives through Nutrition” of Helen Keller Intl Bangladesh.

COUNTRY PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Starting in 1978 by promoting and implementing Nutrition programs, today, Helen Keller Bangladesh is implementing large scale food and health systems program work in Dhaka, the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), Sylhet, Sathkhira, Bogura, Pabna and Narayangonj through and with the government of Bangladesh, as well as national and international partners and NGOs, academic and research institutions, and the private sector.
Since its beginning, Helen Keller Bangladesh has worked with over 150 local, international and government partners to establish Enhanced Homestead Food Production (HFP) programs benefiting over 4.5 million people. We are currently implementing programs to prevent blindness and Neglected Tropical Diseases alongside to programs to improve nutrition and food security that integrate gender-sensitive approaches.
Helen Keller Bangladesh will start to implement “Transforming Lives Through Nutrition” in Sunamganj and Habiganj. This project will focus on Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) for pregnant women, Early & Exclusive breastfeeding, Vitamin A supplementation & Deworming (VAS+D) for children under 5, Infant & Young Child Feeding (IYCF), Acute Malnutrition and Agriculture and Food Systems.
SCOPE OF THE POSITION
The Nutrition Officer will work directly with district, upazila and union government officers from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, local non-governmental organizations, Field Facilitator, community volunteers and beneficiaries to implement nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive activities. S/he will conduct capacity building training and will supervise and monitor cascade trainings to project beneficiaries. S/he will assist to strengthen field level linkages with other Govt/NGOs and private agencies involved in nutrition specific and agriculture and food system interventions.
Base Station: Any of Sub-district under Habiganj and Sunamganj
Responsibilities:
- Work very closely with Health and other relevant department and implementing partner to roll out the nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive related activities in line with project six out comes.
- Maintain very close liaise with Government health and family planning authorities at the district and sub-district levels.
- Assist implementing partner to execute all nutrition related work in upazilas within her/his district.
- Very closely work with community clinic (CC) on malnutrition program in line with the project outcomes through regular visit
- Conduct and participate in capacity building training for IP and govt frontline workers.
- Closely work with local govt department union parishad on VAS-D campaign at sub district level.
- Closely work with CC in referral system and ensure SAM/MAM treatment at sub district level.
- Provide mentoring and supervision support to field officer from Implementing partner.
- Develop monthly action plan.
- Participate and organize monthly/ quarterly reviews meetings and synergies for reporting in coordination with project manager.
- Ensure technical quality of intervention and provide direct technical assistance to implementing staff.
- As a team member contribute to develop social and behavior change communication (SBCC) materials,
- Attend monthly nutrition coordination meeting and district and Upazila level with the govt department.
- Assist to organize and participate advocacy meeting with relevant department at sub-national level
- Assist to conduct formative research and other study at field level.
- Assist to organize meetings with govt department at sub-national level.
- Ensure to implement day-to-day field activity with implementing partner.
- Ensure that SBCC materials and any other needed inputs are available with other team members.
RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS
Education and aptitude: Honors/Masters degree in Food and Nutrition Science or related field. but persons with other relevant work experience such as nutrition specific interventions will be an added advantage.
Job-related experience and knowledge
- At least three to four years of program related experience in nutrition and food system development programs.
- Excellent facilitator with experience providing technical training and guidance in nutrition specific programs.
- Experience liaising with government health and family planning departments and institutions in implementing nutrition programs.
- Experience mobilizing community stakeholder groups, private agencies, community volunteers and beneficiaries in project activities.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English and Bengali.
- Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email communication are essential.
- Experience in the field of gender development and training will be an advantage.
