We We are seeking a highly skilled Field Director, and we strongly encourage women candidates to apply. The ideal candidate will have expertise in humanitarian response and management, project cycle management, gender justice, economic empowerment, and nexus programming to lead and oversee our strategic initiatives. The Field Director will be responsible for managing the overall planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the selected project to ensure successful outcomes in line with the respective project. At the same time, this role requires a strong competence on humanitarian / emergency response management. In addition, the person will represent Helvetas in Cox’s Bazar and will be responsible for overall coordination of the project implemented in Cox’s Bazar. The key responsibilities for this role may include the following but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of project strategies in alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead, guide and strengthen the organisational preparedness for the humanitarian response and management.
- Ensure all interventions align with humanitarian principles, core protection standards, and the organization’s strategic priorities.
- Conduct needs assessments and identify opportunities for program expansion and funding
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure project success.
- Identify Implement best practices of project cycle management (PCM) best practices to and streamline those in PCM project delivery.
- Promote gender justice principles and ensure gender mainstreaming in project activities.
- Design and guide the economic empowerment initiatives to support project beneficiaries.
- Incorporate nexus programming approaches to address complex challenges and foster synergy across humanitarian response and development interventions
- Monitor project progress and performance and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders RRRC, CiC, UN Agencies, partners, and donors to ensure project alignment with their expectations.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to project teams and partner NGOs to facilitate effective project implementation in Cox’s Bazar.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, reports, and communication materials.
- Represent Helvetas in Cox’s Bazar particularly with key stakeholders on humanitarian management and response aspects.
- Overall coordination and supervision of projects and partner NGOs
- Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring financial accountability and transparency.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to security, program delivery, and stakeholder relationships.
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations, organizational policies, and local laws.
- Willingness to travel extensively to remote and high-risk areas as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Humanitarian Affairs, International Development, Disaster Management, or a related field.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
Experience:
- At least 7-10 years proven experience in humanitarian response, project management, preferably in roles related to gender justice, economic empowerment, and nexus programming.
- At least 3 years in a senior management role and or large program management.
- Strong understanding of project cycle management methodologies and tools.
- Ability to incorporate nexus programming to address interconnected challenges of humanitarian response and development sectors.
- Proven experience in emergency response, including conflict, disaster, or displacement contexts.
- Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, Sphere standards, and international humanitarian law.
- Experience in donor relations, proposal writing, and grant management.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of gender justice principles and experience in promoting gender equality within project contexts.
- Familiarity with economic empowerment strategies and their application in development projects.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse environment.
- Experience of working in Humanitarian context.
- Highly diplomatic with strong oral and written communication, negotiation and representation skills.
- Strong skills in networking, advocacy, collaboration and donor liaison.
- Demonstrated high-level technical, and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability to rapidly changing environments and high-stress situations.
- Fluent in English both written and spoken.
- Ability to coach and mentor partners.
