HELVETAS is an international organization, operating in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe in the domains of water & infrastructure, environment & climate change, rural economy, skill development & education, and governance & peace. In Bangladesh, HELVETAS supports the development of rural livelihoods and local governance through  direct support to agriculture and has demonstrated experience in improving access to drinking water as well as reduction of water induced risks, including flood, erosion, and salinity targeting the extreme poor and disadvantaged. HELVETAS, in partnership with ACTED, is launching an emergency operation to respond to the Rohingya Refugee Crisis and is working in particular the sector of Site Management (CCCM) in the Camps of the Kutupalong-Balukhali Expansion Site, Cox’s Bazar.  
HELVETAS seeks to recruit:

Area Liaison Assistant – Dhaka office

Salaries will be based on qualifications and experience with a range between BDT 51,700-56,500 BDT  per month.

Selection criteria

The main criteria used in the selection of the Area Liaison Assistant are the following:

  • previous working experience in similar position with an INGO
  • knowledge of INGO donors in Bangladesh
  • Knowledge of local NGOs
  • Knowledge of registration requirements for INGOs
  • Excellent level of English and Bangla skills are required for writing, typing and speaking. English Language proficiency will be tested
  • Experience in using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) essential
  • knowledge on humanitarian principals
  • Skills required: Communication skills, ability to work independently, results orientated, teamwork, flexible, commitment, stress management, high level of confidentiality, problem solving skills, ability to organize & priorities workload independently, using initiative when appropriate, and ability to act as part of multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent organization to external stakeholders
  • Liaison with partners, donors, and government stakeholders
  • Provide administrative support to all staff travelling to Dhaka
  • Liaison between Dhaka and Cox Bazar offices
  • Ensure office documents are kept current
  • Support logistics with Dhaka fleet management
  • Support logistics with base maintenance and procurement
  • Ensure implementation of Dhaka security guidelines
  • Any other administrative tasks, as delegated
  • Ensuring compliance to internal procedures and donor procedures

Line Management

The Area Liaison Assistant will report to and operate under the guidance of the Country Finance Manager.
