Purpose:
The Specialist, Communication and Volunteering Programming, will lead Habitat for Humanity International Bangladesh’s strategic communication efforts while driving impactful volunteer engagement to support the organization’s vision of ensuring everyone has a decent place to live. Reporting to the National Director, the Specialist will design and implement a comprehensive communication strategy, manage digital platforms, and produce compelling content that strengthens Habitat’s visibility and contributes to resource mobilization.
In parallel, the Specialist will coordinate volunteer programs, ensuring meaningful participation and positive experiences for both individual and group volunteers. By integrating strategic communication with volunteer engagement, this role will play a vital part in positioning Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh as a trusted partner and in mobilizing broader community support for sustainable housing solutions.
Main responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement an integrated Communication and Volunteer Engagement Strategy aligned with Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh’s mission and global standards.
- Position HFHI-B as a thought leader in housing and community development through strategic messaging, advocacy support, and visibility initiatives.
- Ensure all communication and volunteer-related activities comply with Habitat’s branding, safeguarding, and ethical guidelines.
- Digital Engagement & Content Development
- Manage HFHI-B’s website and social media platforms to maximize engagement, donor conversion, and volunteer recruitment.
- Create and curate high-quality content—including photographs, videos, and stories—for campaigns, donor communications, and volunteer engagement.
- Oversee digital fundraising initiatives and online donor engagement by integrating impact stories and volunteer narratives.
- Media Relations & Public Visibility
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets to enhance organizational visibility.
- Prepare press releases, media kits, and coordinate media interactions for events, campaigns, and volunteer activities.
- Collaborate with corporate partners, universities, and community groups to mobilize volunteers and amplify Habitat’s advocacy efforts.
- Represent HFHI-B in external forums, ensuring consistent messaging and brand positioning.
- Resource Mobilization Support
- Collaborate with the Resource Development team to produce donor-focused materials, success stories, and impact reports.
- Support proposal and concept note development with compelling narratives and visuals.
- Leverage volunteer experiences and stories to strengthen fundraising campaigns and stakeholder engagement.
- Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
- Design and implement annual volunteer engagement plans aligned with program priorities and communication strategies.
- Recruit, train, deploy, evaluate, and recognize volunteers—engaging both individuals and groups in mission-aligned opportunities.
- Ensure effective execution of volunteer activities, including build days and special events, providing on-site support when required.
- Coordinate with AP (Asia Pacific) and sending-country volunteer coordinators for hosting volunteer events in Bangladesh.
- Coordinate and support planning and execution of annual events and builds.
- Support outreach to youth, universities, Habitat Young Professionals, and other community groups.
- Strengthen and further develop the volunteer recognition program.
- Volunteer Experience & Recognition
- Develop strategies to enhance volunteer satisfaction, motivation, and retention.
- Implement recognition initiatives and build long-term relationships with volunteers and community partners.
- Coordinate volunteer appreciation events and integrate recognition elements into communication channels.
- Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation and communication outputs.
- Track and analyze engagement metrics across communication and volunteer programs.
- Prepare periodic reports and dashboards to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Capacity Building & Knowledge Sharing
- Train staff and partners on communication standards, branding requirements, and volunteer management best practices.
- Establish systems for internal knowledge sharing and maintain organized repositories for content and volunteer data.
- Document and disseminate lessons learned, success stories, and best practices for internal and external audiences.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all communication and volunteer activities adhere to safety, security, and reputational standards.
- Implement risk mitigation measures for media engagement and volunteer events.

Requirements:
1. Education
- Postgraduate degree in Media and Communication, Public Relation, Marketing, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized university.
2. Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic communication, media relations, and digital content management within the development or nonprofit sector.
- Hands-on experience in social media management, website content development, and digital fundraising campaigns.
- Strong background in storytelling and content creation, including writing impact stories, press releases, and donor-focused materials.
- Experience in volunteer engagement and event coordination, preferably in community development or humanitarian programs.
- Technical proficiency in photography, videography, and editing tools, along with MS Office and design software.
3. Competency
- Ability to design and implement integrated communication and volunteer engagement strategies.
- Skilled in storytelling, donor-focused materials, and digital campaigns.
- Expertise in social media management, website content, and online fundraising tools.
- Strong ability to engage media and build external relationships.
- Organizational skills to plan activities, maintain records, and enhance volunteer satisfaction.
- Ability to assess effectiveness and adapt strategies for communication and volunteer programs.
- Works effectively in multicultural environments and with diverse stakeholders.
- Photography, videography, editing tools, and MS Office/design software.
- Excellent written and spoken English; ability to produce clear, compelling content.
