Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Resource Development (RD), the Communications Officer will play a vital role in promoting Habitat for Humanity International and its initiatives in Bangladesh to a wide range of stakeholders. This position works closely with the Habitat for Humanity International's Asia Pacific Regional communications team to ensure alignment and coordination. The Communications Officer will assist the Habitat for Humanity International Bangladesh's RD team in strategizing, creating, and delivering effective communication and marketing materials aimed at engaging both potential and current donors and supporters. A key focus will be on expanding Habitat for Humanity International Bangladesh's portfolio and converting online visitors into contributors.

The Communications Officer will craft messages that resonate with the organization's mission, vision, and values, while also aligning with Habitat’s overall communication strategy and the specific program strategy for Habitat for Humanity International Bangladesh. This role involves developing the communications and marketing strategy for Habitat for Humanity International Bangladesh and ensuring its execution in line with Habitat for Humanity’s branding guidelines, language, and core values. Additionally, the Communications Officer will create various communications and marketing materials, support donor relationship management, oversee social media platforms and the website, and produce consistent content for newsletters, reports and other sort of publications.

Main responsibilities:

1. Webpage and social media

  • Plan and deliver content and for Habitat for Humanity International Bangladesh website
  • Advise on relevant social media platforms and ensure optimal and effective engagement across selected platforms and social media accounts, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Create photography repository of relevant, high quality photographic material aligned with branding guidelines
  • Manage all digital fundraising related communications including advertisement and promotions and working with various departments and teams to ensure raising funds, building awareness and engaging donors.

2. Fundraising support

  • Create innovative digital fundraising content for Humanity International Bangladesh social media platforms
  • Research and implement diversified digital fundraising channels, methods and payment schemes
  • Acquire new and retain existing financial supporters using digital/online platforms
  • Co-ordinate all fundraising communications.
  • Develop digital fundraising plan in alignment with Humanity International Bangladesh’s RD strategy and with the support of the Head of RD.
  • Provide technical support in writing proposals and concept notes to fundraising teams and donors in relation to online communications.

3. Branding and Visibility

  • Support and guide program staff and implementing partners on communications, visibility and branding plans.

4. Content Development

  • Compile content and develop program one pager, fact sheets, infographics, brochure, profile, report etc.
  • Compile and develop content for social media and traditional media.
  • Work with Program Head/Project Leads to compile and develop Photo bank, Lessons learnt, Case Studies for use at various platforms to showcase our work.
  • Coordinate procedures for content development, this may include; Filming Permit, Photography, Filming etc.
  • Prepare case studies and success stories and share lessons learnt for both internal and external audiences.

5. Internal Communication

  • Support program teams and partner to establish an innovative, user friendly, reliable, and up-to-date internal information database for experiences sharing, knowledge sharing, information sharing and make it accessible
  • Disseminate information about the organization’s information and knowledge sharing program to internal and external audiences
  • Ensure that regular online, print and video production materials are properly and systematically archived and shared both for internal and external consumptions
  • Compile content to develop and share a regular newsletter and weekly highlight to staff and stakeholders.

6. Knowledge Management

  • Translate project learning and results into a success story.
  • Encouraging staff to form relationships that encourages knowledge sharing.
  • Coordinate the documentation of best practices and success stories.

7. Media Coordination & engagement

  • Establish relationship with media.
  • Prepare media kits
  • Support and Coordinate media engagement to support fundraising, programs implementation and its success sharing.

8. Coordinate Planning and Routine Monitoring

  • Implement all communications activity plans and ensure donor and Habitat’s standards and compliance are followed.
  • Coordinate with program team and implementing partners in the dissemination of IEC materials, best practices and lessons learned.  
  • Routinely update and track all communication outputs to monitor progress.
  • Support the program team to apply program results and lessons learned to refine activities and implementation.
  • Relates well with all partners and support them to effectively deliver communications strategy.

9. Organizational contributions

  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings, including strategic planning, performance assessments, work planning and work review
  • Other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

1. Education

University graduate preferably with a Master degree in media and communications or in English or marketing.

2. Experience

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in communications and marketing within a development organization/NGO is required.
  • Candidates should have experience also in areas such as housing, WASH, disaster risk reduction, the Rohingya response, livelihoods, and other related sectors.

3. Competencies

  • Demonstrated knowledge in writing different sort of stories and news writing
  • Knowledge in coordinating multiple stakeholders with complex relationships
  • Knowledge of Associated stories, briefing, one pager and press release writing.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Graphics Design etc.
  • Ability to work under multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated versatility, and integrity
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and networking skills with media and relevant stakeholders
  • Ability to operate video camera, DSLR camera, video editing and other relevant software.

Salary:

(Negotiable based on competency of the selected candidate with all other regular benefits as per organizational policy)
