Good Neighbors is an international humanitarian and development non-governmental organization in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). Good Neighbors Bangladesh (GNB) is operating 14 Community Development Projects (CDPs) and 2 special projects in 10 districts on child protection, education, health, women empowerment, income generating activities, emergency response. As the KOICA-GNB CHW project has recently launched in Bochaganj, Dinajpur District, GNB intends to recruit suitable personnel for the following position:

Position: Public health specialist (KOICA-GNB CHW PROJECT, Bochaganj, Dinajpur District)

Requirements:

  1. Health professional background (MBBS) with a master of public health (MPH) from the recognised university or equivalent academic background.
  2. At least 2 years’ professional experience in OBGYN, public health, community health, global health and international health expertise in either the public or the private sector, or equivalent job experience.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  1. Support to the managers and collaborate with project staffs to lead on operational, programmatic management of the project in the public health sector (maternal-child health care).
  2. Manage the initiation, implementation and closure of such activities related to maternal-child health care.
  3. Develop a training curriculum for health providers and community health workers. 
  4. Make the educational materials for community health workers, and other health providers at the community level.
  5. Organise maternal-child health campaign for increasing awareness, and lead the behaviour change communication by distribution the educational materials.
  6. Maintain the monitoring and evaluation in the public health sector of the project in collaboration with other health staffs.
  7. Supervise and Involve in the recruitment process and evaluate the skilled birth attendants’ activity.
  8. Communicate and coordinate with CDP& Head Office for ensuring & continued of GNB activities.

Attitudes, Skills and Abilities

  1. Communication: Good ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively orally, good report writing skills in English. Official English Proficiency Test such as IELTS, TOEFL is an asset.
  2. Technological skills: Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge such as MS-Office (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT) and other statistical tools such as SPSS, R programme etc.
  3. Attitude: Having good knowledge about global development, global health and OBGYN. Having positive attitudes toward the implementation of global development and global health. Having the ability to understand and to analyse maternal-child health problems and corresponding solutions. Having the highly transparent attitude and multi-tasking capability.

Report to Project Manager-Project Director

Remuneration: 55,000 BDT (Gross salary)/month

Contract Period: 1 year [Extendable depending upon evaluation until the end of the project]

Location: KOICA-GNB CHW Project Office, Bochaganj, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Bangladesh
