The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. GIZ has been working as a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972 under bilateral agreement. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, private sector development and technical education, biodiversity, as well as good governance and displacement.
GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for the position of “Intern” from candidates who are attending a course of further study of which the completion of an internship is an integral component or have graduated no more than six months before commencing the internship. under “Strengthening Institutions for Climate Change Adapted Drinking Water Resources Management in Dhaka (SAIDABAD)" project. The Intern will work under the implementation Manager (DV) of the project. In order to fulfil his/her tasks, s/he will also work in close coordination with the partners, consultants etc.

A. Responsibilities
- S/he will be assisting in the planning, implementation, and documentation of internal and external events (team meetings, trainings, workshops, national dialogues etc.)
- S/he will be, responsible for supporting the planning and development of bilingual communication products (English and Bangla). Key deliverables include drafting reports, policy briefs, factsheets, and presentations, complemented by high-level proofreading and editorial oversight.
- S/he will be supporting knowledge management and the exchange of information within the team and towards external stakeholders via different tools (MS Teams and others)
- S/he will be assisting in collecting relevant data/ information on different projects and activity areas from relevant stakeholders such as counterparts, ministries, division/ departments,Non-Governmental Organization(NGOs), Local Government Institutions (LGIs), development partners, and other relevant organizations on inclusive and climate-sensitive urban environmental management.
- S/he will be assisting in preparation and finalization of different administrative documents related to the smooth operation of the project.
- S/he will be assisting in different organizational and administrative tasks following the needs of the SAIDABAD project.
- S/He will assist in preparing documents for high-level exposure visits and overseas training.
B. The position holder is responsible for the following tasks
Tasks
Event Coordination & Logistics
- Assist in organizing and documenting meetings, workshops, and national dialogues.
- Prepare materials for high-level exposure visits and overseas training.
Communication & Reporting
- Support the creation and editing of bilingual (English/Bangla) reports, factsheets, and presentations.
- Assist in drafting and proofreading project briefs.
Research & Data Collection
- Collect project-related data from stakeholders (ministries, NGOs, LGIs).
- Conduct desk research on climate-sensitive urban environmental management.
Knowledge Management & IT
- Support team information exchange and file management using MS Teams.
- Maintain organized project records and documentation.
Administration & Operations
- Prepare administrative documents and provide general support for the SAIDABAD project.
- Provide any other tasks as assigned by the Implementation Manager or supervisor.
C. Required qualifications, competencies and experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Water Resources Management, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Demonstrated administrative or organizational experience in organizing events such as conferences, workshops etc (through academic projects, student leadership, or previous internships) will be a plus.
- Standard written and verbal communication skills in English and Bangla is must.
- Digital competency, e.g. in digital communication and collaboration, as well as very good user skills in utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for professional document preparation and data management.
- Photography/videography skills is preferred. Experience with graphic design programmes will be highly valued.
- Highly motivated in capacity development and knowledge management on environment and water resources topics.
- Efficient Workflow Design and Problem-Solving Skills.
- Ability to show initiative, work independently, be reliable and be a team player in a multicultural environment.
- Detail-oriented, results-driven with an organised and structured working style, even under pressure.
Learning Area
Extensive learning on issues such as urban environmental management, water resources and management and some project and event management-related tasks with on-the-job experience in the following areas:
- Capacity development activities on environmental and water resources management topics
- Event management skills for local and national level in collaboration wide range of stakeholders
- Knowledge management within the context of International Cooperation.
- Communication with diverse stakeholders.
