The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. GIZ supports the German Government in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has been working as a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972 under bilateral agreement. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, private sector development and technical education, biodiversity, as well as good governance and displacement.

GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for the position of “Intern” from candidates under “Access to Justice for Women (A2J)” project of GIZ Office Dhaka. The Interns will work under the general and overall supervision and guidance of the Senior Advisor - A2J project of GIZ Bangladesh. To fulfil his/her tasks, s/he will work closely with other Advisors of the Project (Task Supervisor).

Contract Duration: Maximum 6 months

A. Responsabilités

  • Support in desk research, studies, data management, and data analysis.
  • Documentation of the different events, meetings, workshops etc.
  • Assist team to develop different documents, case studies, reports, meeting minutes, etc.
  • Assist in internal monitoring processes and other quality assurance-related activities etc.
  • Translating project-related documents from Bengali to English and Vise-versa.

B. The position holder is responsible for the following tasks

Tasks

  • Support to analyze, research, study on relevant laws, regulations and policies, judicial system when and where necessary.
  • Support to organize events, dialogues, workshops, trainings, meetings at district and national level.
  • Support to prepare concept notes, presentations, reports of events, dialogues, workshops, training, meetings at the district and national level.
  • Support to develop a knowledge product in the form of an article, case study, report etc. as final output of the internship.
    Support the Knowledge Management unit, collect and review progress reports, identifying challenges and required follow-up actions.
  • Support project team in a capacity building program for the relevant stakeholders.
  • Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected.

C. Required qualifications, competencies and experience

Academic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Criminology, Statistics or other relevant subjects.

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other computer applications like MS Teams and Outlook.
  • Fluent in both English & Bangla (using Avro and Bijoy) typing
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to gender equality and inclusion
  • Being pro-active, engaged and motivated to contribute and learn.

Learning Area

  • Understanding on proactive legal assistance, Restorative Justice, gender sensitive dispute resolution, case management, Monitoring and Evaluation etc.
  • Developing report writing and documentation skills
