The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, private sector development and technical education, biodiversity, as well as good governance and displacement.
GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for the position of “Project Assistant” from candidates under "Connect’’ Project. This role offers critical support to project implementation by assisting the project manager and technical advisors with operational planning, procurement, compliance, and documentation.

A. Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of project activities, including organizing meetings, workshops, and field visits.
- Assist with administrative and logistical tasks such as documentation, scheduling, and procurement.
- Draft and translate project-related documents; maintain proper filing systems and records.
- Coordinate with partners, service providers, and team members to ensure smooth project operations.
The position holder is responsible for the following tasks:
B. Tasks
- Organize and coordinate internal meetings (sending invitations, organizing and preparing the meeting room, taking meeting notes)
- Support the organization of training and field visits in collaboration with the project team by preparing invitation letters, putting in the requests for venue bookings
- Support day-to-day administrative operations, including scheduling, correspondence, and inventory management
- Prepare, edit, and translate project documents, reports, presentations, and letters (English ↔ Bangla)
- Draft minutes of team meetings and ensure proper follow-up on action points
- Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical) in line with GIZ standards and data protection guidelines
- Assist in procurement processes, including collecting quotations and coordinating with service providers
- Support basic financial tasks such as checking invoices.
C. Required qualifications, competencies and experience
Academic qualifications
- Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
Professional experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in project support, administrative tasks, or coordination roles.
- Experience in planning and executing events, workshops, and complex travel arrangements.
- Adept at both independent work and collaborative team efforts within diverse cultural settings.
- Prior experience in international development, NGO, or donor-funded projects highly valued.
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Bengali and English, with a proven ability to engage effectively across diverse cultural environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, hands-on experience with digital data systems, and familiarity with various communication tools and modern IT systems.
- Familiarity with GIZ procedures and documentation standards is an advantage.
- Adept at managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines with excellent time management.
- Strong problem-solver with a proactive approach.
- Understands data protection and confidentiality principles.
