The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. GIZ supports the German Government in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has been working as a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972 under bilateral agreement. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, private sector development and technical education, biodiversity, as well as good governance and displacement.

GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for the position of “Intern” from candidates who are attending a course of further study of which the completion of an internship is an integral component or have graduated no more than six months before commencing the internship.

Job Location: Dhaka Internship

Duration: 6 Months (maximum)

A. Responsibilities

The incumbent will work under the general supervision and overall guidance of the Project Manager, GOTAN. To fulfill their tasks, they will work in close coordination with the Leather Development Forum (LDF) Secretariat. Additionally, the incumbent will support day-to-day activities under all three outputs of the GOTAN project.

The incumbent is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all communication between the project and private sector stakeholders, including LDF members, is properly received, acknowledged, and responded to as needed.
  • Support in the documentation and reporting across all outputs of the project.
  • Support in organizing trainings, workshops, and other events in collaboration with partner organizations.

The Intern is responsible for the following tasks:

B. Tasks 

The position holder is seats within project office and ensure that the day-to-day support has been provided.

1. Project formalization related job duties

  • Ensure all day-to-day communications with the members of Leather Development Forum (LDF) and need based communication with DIFE and business associations.
  • Support drafting correspondence or documents for the partner organizations/forum.
  • Organize meetings and take detailed minutes.
  • Assist in Event and travel related works.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops.
  • Arrange required office supplies and items for meeting.
  • Make phone calls as and when necessary and instructed by the supervisor.
  • Drafting letters and memos and office order for the implementing agency.
  • Assist the admin team in implementation of tasks as and when necessary.

2. Internal communications

  • Attend meetings and maintain good network with project colleagues.

3. Other duties / Additional tasks

  • Assist in any other task as and when necessary and assigned by supervisor.
  • Support the team in any additional tasks that may be assigned by supervisor. 

C. Required qualifications, competencies and experience

Academic qualifications

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Communication or a relevant field (graduated within the last six months)

Professional experience

  • Not applicable

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Eager to learn and work with various activities of administrative unit under.
  • Good working knowledge on ICT (email, internet and computer applications e.g. MS Office, Teams, Outlook etc.).
  • Good command of English and Bangla (written and verbal).
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • A good team player.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
