Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, private sector development and technical education, biodiversity, as well as good governance and displacement.

For the team of our “Access to Justice for Women (A2Justice)”, we seek applications for the position of “Junior Rule of Law and Good Governance Advisor” focusing the area of Legal Assistance.

A. Responsibilities

  • Assisting supervisor during the planning, steering, risk analysis and progress of the project
  • Maintaining effective district level coordination, management, implementation and follow up of legal aid and case management activities in accordance with project goals
  • Building network / partnership with the district level justice actors to ensure necessary legal assistance for  poor and vulnerable specially women and children
  • Ensuring coordination among the Partner NGOs (PNGO), GIZ and other relevant stakeholders in the field
  • Ensuring quality implementation of the project activities in accordance with GIZ rules and regulation
  • Assisting supervisor to identify day to day problems and suggest appropriate solutions

           
In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

B. Tasks (Specific for Job Role)

1. Management, Coordination and Networking

  • Supporting project related day-to-day activities in the field
  • Organizing events, dialogues, workshops, trainings, meetings at district level
  • Supporting case management forums in collecting data, documents and information for better case management
  • Organizing the legal aid clinics in collaboration with partner organization and / or universities and / or other educational institutions
  • Ensure necessary coordination between project intervention both in formal and informal justice sector
  • Assisting project team members in building network with different stakeholders, including but not limited to, legal aid organizations and different actors in the criminal justice system

2. Reporting, Documentation and Knowledge Management

  • Keeping relevant documents/reports/results and files updated
  • Supporting the legal research and study activities/desk research related to justice system in Bangladesh as required
  • Contributing to develop concept note, outlining consultation workshop/stakeholder dialogue on justice and project reforms
  • Tracking of PNGOs contractual obligations
  • Supporting team members through providing information on new laws, circulars, office orders those are relevant to the judicial reform specially on legal aid, ADR, case management etc. 
  • Supporting Performance Team to run the data management system for the project

3. Other Duties/Additional Tasks

  • Contribute to run project activities and any other tasks as required
  • Supporting to other outputs/component under the Programme
  • Undertaking such other duties as may be reasonably expected

C. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Academic Qualifications

  • LL.B (Hons) or Bachelor’s degree in any other equivalent subject

Professional experience

  • 3 years’ relevant professional experience in public or private sectors/ NGO/ Development Cooperation
  • Experience in justice and legal sector in Bangladesh
  • Proven ability and experience in reporting and documentation in both Bengali and English is essential

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Knowledge and understanding on the criminal justice sector will be an asset 
  • Proven ability in self-organisation, to work under pressure and deliver on time
  • Proven commitment to gender equality and disability
  • Excellent command modern telecommunication system as well as on MS-Office (word, excel and power- point), and Bangla and English compose
  • Strong writing, reporting and documentation skills in both Bangla and English
