The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work to shaping a future worth living around the world. As a public-benefit Federal Government organisation, GIZ supports the German Government, particularly the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) implementing development projects. In Bangladesh, GIZ is implementing the technical cooperation projects in the areas of energy, climate change, textile, human rights under the bilateral agreement, signed on 15 July 1972 between the Bangladesh and German Governments.
This specific assignment, Project Development Programme (PDP), of the German Energy Solutions Initiatives commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWk), invites Expression of Interest (EOI) from expert consultants for the “Sector analysis of Heat Supply and Process Heat Solutions in Bangladesh”
The Sector Analysis aims to:
- provide an overview of the current social-economic development status in Bangladesh,
- give an overview on Bangladesh´s energy sector and the government’s development strategy,
- Analyse the process heat supply in the Bangladeshi C&I sector including fuels and technologies used, percentage of process heat from total energy needed in the C&I sector, sectors with more process heat consumption, temperatures needed, etc.
- Identify the potential for carbon-neutral and/or renewable process heat supply solutions in the C&I sector (and more concrete information for our focus process heat technologies; solar thermal (concentrating and non-concentrating), boilers (biomass, biogas etc.), Combined Heat and power (CHP), electric boilers and heat pumps.
- The focus of the analysis of heat supply and process heat solutions will be on private industrial factories and large commercial facilities located in Bangladesh.
In this regard, PDP implemented by GIZ is seeking Expression of Interest (EOI) from reputable Bangladeshi firms with experience in consulting firm, energy service provider, or a technical services company specializing in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and process heat, with a strong track record in both commercial and development projects.
The minimum qualification of interested companies can be determined by followings:
- Service provider must submit Commercial register entry proof documents like, company/organization incorporation documents, trade license, Tin certificate, VAT/BIN certificate etc.
- The service provider must have an average of 5 employees and managers in the last 3 calendar years.
- At least 02 reference studies in the area of renewable energy/ energy efficiency/process heat
- At least 02 reference studies in Bangladesh in the last 3 years have to be submitted by the service provider.
- General professional experience: 10 years of professional experience in the energy and process heat related sector.
- Specific professional experience: 10 years in process and thermal heat supply, process heat generation, Certified Energy Auditor (CEA)/Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
- Development Cooperation (DC) experience: 2 years of experience in DC projects
Companies with these pre-requisite qualifications should also provide the following documents along with their Expression of Interest (EOI):
- Company Brochure/profile
- List of current client companies in relevant services
- All up-to-date Trade License document, with Tax Certificates
