A. Responsibilities
The position holder is responsible for:
- Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
- Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
- Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
- Advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
- Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
- Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
- Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
B. Tasks
Core scope of tasks
The position holder is responsible for:
- Coordinates the implementation of project activities in Khulna and Satkhira, in close cooperation with contracted parties
- Coordinates and communicates with our project partners in Khulna and Satkhira (e.g. City Corporation and Paurashava, community development committees (CDCs), citizens and others)
- Supports the operational planning of the project and contributes to the continuous monitoring of the advancement and quality of the project’s activities and results, in line with GIZ requirements Assists and gives feedback
- On local practice-oriented approaches and management models from the partner cities
- On the development and effective dissemination of a set of guidelines for urban environmental management based on the approaches and models mentioned above, etc.
Other duties/additional tasks
- Participates regularly in team meetings and provides relevant and up-to-date information about the on-going implementation progress
- Accompanies monitoring and evaluates the implementation of all contracts including financial aspects and regard to factual correctness
- Sums up and synthesizes the collected information for contributing to progress reports
- Identifies supports needs regarding capacity development for the implementing partners
- Assists in the organisation and the conduction of trainings and workshops in Khulna and Satkhira
- Assists to maintain communication, liaison and facilitation with the implementing partners/agencies, community representatives whenever required/advised
- Organizes exchange meetings between/among the implementing partners on specific topics as and when required and conducts field visit in the selected partner communities in the Khulna and Satkhira, when required.
C. Required qualifications, competences and experience
Academic Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Political Science or Public Administration or any other relevant subject
Professional experience
- At least 4 years of related professional experience, including 2 years of professional experience in urban environmental development and/or with Local Government Institutions
- Proven knowledge and expertise in at least one of the following technical areas: (i) sustainable urban development, (ii) environmental management, (iii) gender equality, (iv) capacity development, (v) community mobilization and participatory planning
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Interest to work with Municipality/Paurashava
- Ability to plan and prioritize work in line with agreed strategies and workplans, to adjust priorities and plans as required
- Independent, highly motivated colleague (female*male) with the willingness to learn and growth professionally
- Ability to work well in a team and strong interest to work in an intercultural environment
- Dedication to the promotion of gender equality and youth involvement
- Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluency in English is essential
- Knowledge of German Language is an asset
- Ability to work in an intercultural environment
