For the team of our “Climate Change and Sustainable Urban Cluster”, we seek applications for the position of “Project Assistant”.

A. Responsibilities

  • Perform the specified commercial, organizational and administrative tasks correctly and on schedule in collaboration and consultation with the line manager, in accordance with the specified objective and with due regard for legal, contractual and internal requirements and procedure
  • Perform organizational and administrative tasks
  • Maintain appropriate internal and external communications
  • Provide support for knowledge management and ongoing process development
  • Contributing to the planning and implementation of the project objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
  • Assisting project initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
  • Assist supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
  • Assist supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

B. Tasks (Main Job Role)

  • Provide organizational and operational support for the Portfolio Management Unit at the cluster level as well as needs-based support for activities of various projects within the Climate Change and Sustainable Urban Development Cluster
  • Support the development of new projects, in particular with a view to preparing and implementing appraisal missions
  • Support supervisor and the Portfolio Management team in day-to-day duties, including information gathering/analysis, correspondence, documentation and meeting management.
  • Assist in conceptually designing and organizing training, workshops, seminars, webinars, study tours, and follow-up communications with participants.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data/information relevant for projects within the Climate Change and Sustainable Urban Development Cluster, translating and interpreting between Bangla and English.
  • Prepare precise and visually appealing draft presentations, background materials, and meeting minutes/event summaries.
  • Support to plan and organize field visits, meetings, and other national and international events.
  • Manage contact lists and contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
  • Support the knowledge management at cluster level, including supporting the creation and updating of knowledge products, assisting projects on the topic of knowledge management
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

C.  Required qualifications, competences and experience

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Climate Change/ Development Studies/ Geography/ Environmental Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Urban Planning or any other relevant subject.

Professional experience:

  • 1 (one) year  of related professional experience in relevant field, preferably with nationally and/or, internationally reputed development organization
  • Basic knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas: (i) Climate change adaptation (ii) stakeholder engagement (iii) event/meeting management (iv) communication with partners/beneficiaries
  • Exposure to urban context is highly desirable
  • Good understanding and exposure on research approaches/methodology 

Other knowledge, additional competences:

  • Willingness to work well under pressure and organize own area of responsibility to complete designated tasks
  • Openness to familiarize oneself with new technical areas
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Fluency in English and good writing skills in both English and Bangla
  • Familiarity with development cooperation, bilateral or multilateral organizations is desirable
  • Good command of MS-Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Willingness and ability to participate in extensive field visits and fieldwork.
  • Ability to work in an intercultural environment and must be a strong team player
