As a public-benefit Federal Government organisation, GIZ supports the German Government, particularly the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) implementing development projects. In Bangladesh, GIZ is implementing the technical cooperation projects in the areas of energy, climate change, textile, human rights under the bilateral agreement, signed on 15 July 1972 between the Bangladesh and German Governments.

For the team of our “Higher Education and Leadership Development for Sustainable Textiles in Bangladesh (HELD)” we seek applications from suitable candidates for the position of “Knowledge Management Advisor”.

A. Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for

  • managing an area connection to the implementation of the project
  • introduce innovations in achieving programme objectives conforming team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
  • assisting project initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
  • advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
  • advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
  • independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
  • make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
  • assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution

B. Tasks (Specific for job role)

The position holder will be

  • supporting the project in all relevant activities related to knowledge management
  • steering and monitoring the project activities to achieve the project goals
  • collaborating with the textile cluster monitoring
  • supporting in creating an academia-industry nexus network among educational institutions (universities, colleges, diploma institutes, government agencies) and the private sector in the textile/RMG industry
  • supporting in organizing exchange events on sustainable curriculum development with a focus on gender
  • supporting the establishment and maintenance of contacts with network partners
  • participating in discussions with other development partners with the aim of synergies
  • planning, organising and documenting the project relevant coordination and steering meetings with the relevant counterparts
  • organising travel related processes for both local and international travel
  • supporting the partners in organizing trainings and workshop under the scope of the textile cluster projects
  • coordinating with consultants and providing required support as to create the best outputs of assignment

Other Tasks

The position holder will be

  • supporting the project manager with reporting and knowledge management within the project and communicating progress and results to a broad target group
  • representing GIZ towards stakeholders and ensure that GIZ values and principles are upheld
  • ensuring safeguarding the quality of process of the project

C. Required qualifications, competences, and experience

Qualifications

  • Master’s in education or social sciences or related field

Professional experience

  • 5 years in relevant occupational experience with international exposure in the development cooperation sector
  • 3 years of professional experience in educational projects in higher education and/or TVET
  • Good knowledge of social, ecological and economical sustainability topics and in global supply chains, especially in the textile/RMG industry
  • experience in communication with federal ministries/ policy advice and in cooperation with other donors would be an asset

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
  • must have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • fluency in English is essential
  • ability to work in an intercultural environment
  • good organizational skills and management expertise
  • strong quantitative skills
  • willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
